Man- can't believe I forgot Spaceballs!

Spinal Tap would be cool. (I've also got The Ruttles- anybody seen that)

Monty Python is always a good choice!

    "And there was much rejoicing...yea!

This may be a dumb question (one of my specialties), but are you guys aware of the fan flicks available from Z Team Productions? The filmmaker, John Hudgens, is from Knoxville, has been a guest at DragonCon, and is on my "want" list for MSC in 2005. Hopefuly, his documentary in production, American Scary (about horror movie hosts) will be complete by then.

His fan flicks are downloadable, and would be a great addition to your event or even a MSC.

    We need:

    Someone Like You
    Bridget Jones Diary
    An Ideal Husband
    Sense and Sensibility
Pride and Prejudice (We can do it over 6 hours)
    Legally Bonde
    The Horse Whisperer
    Titanic
    Ghost
    Four Wedding and A Funeral

Let's throw in some estrogen to balance out that testerone.

Rhonda: I'll second Four Weddings and a Funeral. And I'll raise you and Traci a When Harry Met Sally, My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding, A League of Their Own, Forget Paris, The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, aaaaaaaand Steel Magnolias!!!

I confess that I really do love all of the aforementioned movies. AND I'LL FIGHT ANY MAN WHO FEELS OTHERWISE!!!! -Cough...ahem- Sorry, testosterone forced a balance there.

OK, I forsee a compromise coming so as to not completely over-y-chromosome this whole thing.

    As for my movie list-

    The Indiana Jones Trilogy

Aliens (It's got Sigourney as the heroine, and that's a good thing.)

The Fifth Element (One word: Mila.)

    Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

    Sleepy Hollow

    Top Secret!

    Demolition Man

    Miss Congeniality

    Spaceballs

    Best in Show

    The Life of Brian

    Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

    Amadeus
(I'm not joking here. It's a brilliant film. Mark Hamill did it on Broadway.)

    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

    Groundhog Day

    Blade

    Mother

    The Rocky Horror Picture Show

    The Money Pit

    Galaxy Quest

    Toy Story 2

    Forrest Gump

    and, of course...

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Was that a big enough list for everyone?

One thing to think of is this: Since these movies will be able to be seen from backyards that are blocks away, we're probably going to have to avoid movies with certain language and content. We need to think of approximate time frames and the number of films. No more than eight. I'll also have to talk to all of my neighbors far in advance. I figure we'd do this every Saturday night at dark, unless it's raining or has been raining that Saturday, which would be decided no less than three hours before showtime.

We can only do ESB if we do the others... It would be tragic to go through the summer without watching all 5 of the saga that's out, even if we have to let Alien go...*sigh* They come first. [face_mischief]

I can just see it now...

SMT's Drive-In Night: The Spring And Summer Series
That's right...it's back and bigger than ever! Every Friday and Saturday night. Starting in April and concluding in September. Friday night is Chick Flick Night...sponsored by Kotex...bring your Kleenex, gals. Saturday night is Movies For Guys Who Like Movies Night...sponsored by Miller Lite...bring something dead to grill.

And every Sunday morning is SMT Sci-Fi Cinema for the Blind, sponsored by MECA (Memphis Eye and Cataract Associates).

Was that cruel and insensitive of me?

Steve: ....Brought to you by Kotex....snicker.... Could be worse. Could be brought to you by Lifetime Television for Women. Of course, then every movie would feature Valerie Bertinelli (or Donna Mills) and Tom Wopat in a drama about a woman who was molested by her transexual, alcoholic, crack-addicted, ADHD, schizophrenic dentist and woke up pregnant with his four-headed, siamese, quadroplegic, autistic, hydrocephalic twins who she must fight to keep in a monumental legal case against impossible odds.

Oh, wait a sec. That one was on yesterday. It was called She Woke Up Pregnant.

Yeah, I was flippin' thru the channels and just caught the tail-end of that one. It ended with Jean Smart crying and hugging Lindsey Wagner.

Now, my list of movies-for-consideration for SMT Drive-In Night(s):

    There's Something About Mary

    Fletch

    X-Men (1 and 2)

    Shrek

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie

    and some possible shorts:

    R2-D2: Beneath The Dome

    Family Guy
(I have the complete series on DVD)

    The Whattles???

A Beatles mockumentary (like This Is Spinal Tap) by some of the Monty Python gang, and even has a cameo by George Harrison and a lot of the original SNL gang.

This may be a dumb question (one of my specialties), but are you guys aware of the fan flicks available from Z Team Productions?[i/]

Yep, seen a few things on the FanFilms section of TFN. That'd be great if you could get him/them down. Let us know if you need an email campaign started!

Let's throw in some estrogen to balance out that testerone.

Hey, I like chick flicks as much as the next guy- well, you know what I mean! (Heck, maybe I can bring a date! Ok, maybe not- we all know how well my last SMT date went!)

My Big, Fat, Greek, Wedding (I'll bring the Windex!)
Sleepless In Seattle (How about it, [An Affair To Remember
, and The Dirty Dozen triple feature?!)
Say Anything (or Better Off Dead..?)
    Bridget Jones' Diary
    Notting Hill
    Four Weddings and A Funeral
    Hope Floats

I'm game with any of those.
    Or these-

    Groundhog Day
    Miss Congeniality
    The Rocky Horror Picture Show
    Galaxy Quest
    Toy Story 2

I really dig Sense and Sensibility , but don't know if most could hang with it.

Also, would like to hang onto National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for a Christmas get together. Maybe we can all sit around drinking eggnog and watch it!

    Lin

    PS- Mila... :)

Ah.... Mention Mila to Lin and all of a sudden... Bear Happy.

Yeah, we should do NLCV at a Christmas get-together. I must be the only person who watches it throughout the year.

I think we'll let the listing go on through the end of February, and then we'll take that list and start letting folks vote on the movies. I'll have something up either here or on the site where we can vote.

Oh, and your assignment, Mr. SMT Media Relations, is to try and get The Crew and some of your other radio buddies to come out and join us during the Drive-In nights. No remotes or anything, mind you, just personal invitations. If we can start a word-of-mouth campaign about our existence, then I know we'll get some new members. And if a couple of those mouths just happen to be connected to a microphone and are heard by a bunch of folks, then that's even better. Since apparently only about .3% of the Memphis population will admit to being Star Wars fanatics, we want to reach that .3% loud and clear.

I appreciate your trying, Steve. It's hard as hell to get anyone to participate in anything in this area. Then you add the stigma of Sci-Fi, and all of the stereotypes involved (thank you, Trekkies), and it makes it even harder.

I know Wes Yahola is a big sci-fi fan, and was at the MSC last year. I think he's friends with either Mike or Carlin. I'll be sure to give him and his wife a yell. Tim's not much of a social butterfly, and unless we played BeetleJuice (or PORN!) on the big screen I doubt he'd make an appearnce. Bev's not too far from your house (Atoka, just past the Wal-Mart in Millington). She likes parties- I'll be sure to give her a yell. Don't know about Bad Dog. I'll deifnitely invite them and Leslie/mid-day- she's REALLY nice looking!

I'll also be sure to let the folks at the C/A I have contact info for know about it. Maybe I can come up with some kind of fun invite/release for them.

Just as long as it's not Jarmon, then everything's OK, Lin.

It's either word of mouth or publicity stunt. Any chance I could get someone to paint our website address on their chest and back and streak at the Superbowl?

I don't know, Tim. That's a pretty long website address. Maybe I need to paint it on a different part of my anatomy.

Doh! Just thought of another great movie for Drive-In Night(s):

    Mars Attacks!

I love that movie!! (a young Amidala is in it, too)

It's all from a certain point of view, fellas. It all depends on the font size.

I didn't much care for Mars Attacks. It just didn't do much for me.

Now that you mention Beetlejuice, Lin, I could go for seeing it.
