Oh the sorrow, let us count the ways.....

    Chewie dead
    Anakin dead.....(but will return...I hope)
    Luke is almost nonexistent
    Mara... see Luke above
    Tahri is alone
    Kyp is Kyp
    No Talon Karde
Vong winning at almost every turn
    We could go on

    The Joys

We will go on. The Jedi will prevail
    Kyp is Kyp
Jacen will be strong for all of us
    Jania too
    Han being Han

What are your sorrows and joys ?

I don't really see too many joys in these books yet. Chewies dead, Han becomes an alcoholic for a while, Leia almost dies, Anakin dies, Jacen and Jaina lose their little brother and the conflict is shifted to their reluctant (unreluctant?) shoulders.
Many Jedi die. Many people die.

The only joy i can view from this is Ben Skywalker's birth.

Do you think there would be nearly this much interest in the whole thing if they didn't shake things up a bit?

Han won't die. . . . there was a confirmation of that in the UK SW mag. SOmeone posted it earlier even.

i think just about the only joys i can think of are that
    1) finally they are facing a compatent foe who can't be banished in a trilogy or less (and doesn't rely and tried-and-failed superweapons) and
    2) luke and the rest of the jedi are not acting like omnipotent lords and are thinking about the force, interesting philosophical stuff
    3) developement of kyp durron!!!!

however, the series in general is incredably bleak, making PT stuff feel uplifting and light.... however, i guess this just makes it all the more interesting and intense

They've been foreshadowing Han dying since Vector Prime. So far they've killed off his son, his friend (Rio) and Chewie (and Lando might bite it too) - this has turned Han into a very over protect man. In that last NJO book han will sacriface himself in order to protect the rest of his family and those he cares about. No more will die while he can help it.

Its the perfect 180 for the characer. When he first meet him he doesn't care about anyone but himself and Chewie. Then when he dies its to protect other people.

I still can;t believe they killed Lywll !!! Arrggghhhhhh !!!!!

OK, i'm composed again. I also miss Elegos and it feels different already now that borsk is no longer with us (though this could be a good thing :) too early to tell) I also think we should shed some tears for Bossk. I truly doubt that he's doing well in Vong custody.

I'd also like to know if there was any ever PROOF that it was Fett who jumped down another a large animals throat and started destorying it from the inside.

DaJames2:actually Borsk wasn't captured,he detonated a bomb in his desk that killed himself along with 25,000 Yuuzhan Vong soldiers. So he died a hero, well sort of.

I had already mentioned Borsk Fey'la. I was talking about Bossk. Remember Hero's Trial ? Han and Roa and Bossk had a bar brawl, and they ended up in the can. Bunji had Han and Roa released, but i don't remember if he released bossk or not. There's a chance that he was captured in his cell. Even if he was released, there's no reason for Bunji to take him with him (that's assuming Bunji even managed to escape, i really need to reread HT), and i was under the impression that only Han's shuttle escaped the station, and that was only due to Han's insane piloting skills. I don't think Han would have bothered to save Bossk.

Joy: More Star Wars! May it never end!

Sorrow: Seeing it change into something almost incoherent. All my old favorites literally becoming old and being replaced with these kids from books (YJK and JJK) that I never liked to begin with.

    Joys
-Borsk redeeming himself (I was always hot-and-cold, liked him sometimes, hated him others)
    -Ben's birth
-The exploration of the YJK characters from mature adult authors (I still love you Kevin :p)
    -C-H-I-S-S

    Sorrows
-All the death and destruction of people and worlds I 'love'
-The seeming imperviousness and strength of the Vong
-The price of the novels ($19 Australian for DJ!!)
