So what's everyone's favorite sport movies? Rocky is definately up there. Along with Rudy and Remember the Titans. On the comedy side I like Dodgeball and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Discuss!

Rocky didn't really do much for me. I really liked Remember the Titans though, and of course can't forget Rudy. Funny though, because I was watching that the other day on HBO, love that movie.

Another one I liked would have to be Miracle with Herb Brooks and his college hockey team winning the gold in the Olympics against the Russians. That was a good movie as well.

There are a few sports movies that are just awesome. The Natural comes to mind. I always thought Major League was funny. Bull Durham and Field of Dreams I'll tyipcally watch if it's on.

Actually, Angels in the Outfield was always a good one in years gone by.

Yep, I know, I don't watch all that many serious ones. :p

I love The Natural film, but I have to say they changed quite a few things from the book, including the fact that Roy was nowhere near a perfect guy in the novel.

I've only watched Field of Dreams recently, and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

For a good laugh, and just a hint of commentary on the game of American Football: The Replacements.

So many good ones! I'll mention some that haven't been mentioned yet...

    Of the older ones...

    Hoosiers
    Breaking Away

    Of the newer ones...

Remember the Titans (okay I know it was mentioned)
    Glory Road

Side note: Did anyone catch little Anakin in Madison?

I love Mystery, Alaska because it's about the only decent movie with hockey out there. I HATE that stupid Miracle movie about the American Olympic hockey team. You don't see us Canadians making movies like that and if we do they're shown on CBC and NO one watches CBC. :p

There are two movies that just pop up in my mind: Space Jam and White men can't jump. Those where great! :D

Oh, and of course Dirty Dancing and Fame. ;)

There's also a horse riding movie, which is about a girl that lost her parents and had a hard time in school. But then she found a horse. She saved all her money for this horse to find out that it was sold to another person - her uncle. Then her carrier starts and in the end she wins the olympic games.
Sadly I only know the German title. Does anyone can think about such a movie? :(

Field of Dreams, Pride of the Yankees, and Rudy are the best sports movies ever made.

I like Rudy and Rocky because they're about that underdog rising up and getting the chance to prove themselves

My wife always laughs at me when I get a tear in my eye when Rudy finally gets on the field. That must be a guy thing because I just can't explain it to her.

I always wonder when people say Pride of the Yankees whether they've really seen the film or just list it because of its classic status. Outside of Cooper and a glimpse of the real Babe Ruth, the acting is awful. The humor isn't funny and there is a unwelcome dance number that was put in specifically so that women would not get bored with the picture. Its a lousy film, albeit a tragic story, that has coasted on its reputation. There are far better sports films than this one.

Give me the The Bad News Bears any day.

From a comedy standpoint, Happy Gilmore is probably one of the few Adam Sandler movies I like. My wife absolutely loves The Replacements, though I just sort of cringe and wonder what made Gene Hackman agree to be in it.

Here are a few more of my faves:

    The Rookie
LeMans (more for the racing action than the story)
    American Flyers
    Rocky
A league of their Own (Had to, it was filmed in my hometown)

    On the comedy side:
    Caddyshack
    Happy Gilmore
The Fish that saved Pittsburgh (seems like Dr. J. could have acted more)
    Bull Durham
    Major League
