Are you thinking of International Velvet? National Velvet had to do with the Grand National race, but International Velvet has her and her horse going to the Olympics. Both movies are excellent sport horse movies btw.

I'm a big fan of Dodgeball for comedy. Also nothing beats the Mighty Ducks movie (the original one) and the Sandlot is always quotable.

A League of Their Own, for sure. One year I had my softball team over to watch this after a big game of ours. It was so much fun to watch with a bunch of girls who kick ass on the diamond ;) "There's no crying in baseball" Classic.

Remember the Titans is good but I saw it so many times when I was in Jr. High that I got kind of sick of it. I'd like to watch it again.

I'm interested in seeing We Are Marshall when it comes out.

Friday Night Lights gets big props from me for being a true story about the loser.

Coach Carter was also good, as well as Remember the Titans. Did anyone see Invincible?

One of my favorites that I haven't seen mentioned is Eight Men Out, which was about the Black Sox scandal.

And, of course, I loved the Mighty Ducks, if only for a certain cameo appearance. :p

Oh yeah, I liked Eight Men Out. I only saw it once, but it was very interesting and well done.

you guys have all forgotten one of the most obvious, finest cinematic achievements of all time: Blue Chips. with a startling breakthrough performance from Shaquille O'Neal.

How come nobody has mentioned Slap Shot with Paul Newman yet!? For shame! [face_shame_on_you] Other great ones are Caddieshack, Tin Cup, Who's got game and Any Given Sunday. I've always hated Happy Gilmore but I supposed it's because I'm a serious golfer. :p

There's so many it's hard to pick but Hoosiers is number one on my list. After that it's in no order:

    Caddyshack
    Field of Dreams
    Rudy
    Breaking Away
    Remember the Titans
    Miracle
    Glory Road
    The Rookie
    Rocky IV

I forgot to mention Stick it, that's a great movie. Lots of fun, and shows how much you have to give up, socially, to be a successful athlete.

I finally got around to watching The Natural last week. Considering someone gave me the DVD a year or two ago, thats pretty sad.

I enjoyed it, even if I did predict 90% of what was going to happen in each game/at-bat.

    Nice!:D 2 excellent choices.

Funny considering the 2 worst sports movies ever are Slap Shot 2 & Caddyshack 2.

I'm a big fan of The Sandlot, Remember the Titans, Rocky, Rudy (despite the fact that it's about ND football...[face_plain]), Field of Dreams, and Happy Gilmore. Somehow I've never seen Hoosiers. I should probably change that.

    Yeah, Hoosiers is worth watching.

I prefer Glory Road among basketball movies, though.

Sandlot is fantastic, and like so many other sports movies, didn't need the sequel(s). And, I like to pretend they don't exist anyways.

The movie 'Miracle' about the 1980 US Olympic hockey team is a good one. Another favorite of mine is 'Mystery Alaska'.

Rudy is great but there are a lot of things in the movie that aren't accurate. I think my favorite sports movie ever might be Major League. And the most underrated sports movie of all time is Major League 2.

I also like Any Given Sunday, a realistic(but maybe a little exagerrated) look at pro football.
