I don't think has been posted.

Yesterday, the Netflix DVD rental service released a list of the Star Wars movies ranked on how often the DVDs have been rented, and the #1 most rented DVD is...

    Revenge of the Sith! :anakin:

    #2 A New Hope
    #3 Attack of the Clones
    #4 The Phantom Menace
    #5 The Empire Strikes Back
    #6 Return of the Jedi

Fascinating and pretty great for the PT and fans. :) Now this doesn't include TFA, but it's still pretty early.

Odd how ROTS seems to be one of the most liked star wars films, despite the internet trying it's best to say otherwise. Well it's my favorite prequel so I think this is great. :)

All the Prequels are rented higher than the originals except ANH. But people hate those films haha.

Only on Netflix. The OT is higher on the overall rentals & sales charts ;)

I am not surprised. Revenge of the Sith garnered a lot of momentum since that has Anakin and Obi-Wan first fight, so it was always going to have those numbers. What I am surprised is that The Empire Strikes Back is low on that list. PT takes a lot of bashing, but it introduced a new audience to the series. Much like TFA.

I am not surprised either. ROTS is exciting, beautiful and connects the two trilogies.

    Great thread, mes520!!!

Truth is stranger -- and more encompassing -- than fiction.

Great to see results like this..... further countering the MYTH that the prequels are universally hated and worthless.

    Right...??? :)

Arguably -- and I think there are empirical facts to support this idea -- the more a culture or polity tries to stamp something out, the more it finds expression, in flat defiance of so-called norms.

For example, Pakistan, being a failed/failing state ruled by Islam, is brutally intolerant of homosexuality, yet was the leading country for gay and transgender porn look-ups on Google in 2013.

    (Note: Some adult terms)

    http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/201...istan-google-searches-gay-porn_n_3440586.html

Trying to force everyone to swallow myth and dogma -- be it political, religious, societal, corporate, or, yes, even scientific dogma -- is counter-productive and stupid.

Three cheers, then, for the PT and its secret/not-so-secret admirers!

The three cheers should go to TFA. It is the reason for the massive boost in sales & rentals of all of the other SW movies =D=

Well, by that measure, thirty cheers to George Lucas, for creating the saga, for pioneering film technology, and for deciding that a sequel trilogy was a worthy venture, after all -- even if he decided to sell to Disney rather than make it himself.

Anyway, I Googled and found the following article:

    http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...-are-the-most-rented-according-to-netflix.htm

I see that, as per usual, like it's now become some rule of the universe, the author sneers at ROTS outranking ANH, and oozes contempt for TPM and AOTC, too.

    On ROTS:

That much is obvious upon looking at the most rented Star Wars movie from Netflix, which just so happens to be Revenge of the Sith. Sure, Revenge of the Sith isn't too awful. It has some cool moments and a few nice lightsaber fights. Plus, we get to see the creation of the Empire and Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader. As far as the prequels go, you could do much, much worse.

However, it still baffles the mind that Revenge of the Sith beats out the original Star Wars, which clocks in at number two. One would think the film that started it all would be on top, but you would be mistaken.

    On TPM and AOTC:

That leads us to the third and fourth entries on the list: Attack of the Clones and The Phantom Menace, respectively. By far, these are the two worst films of the entire saga. Much has been written on how The Phantom Menace takes everything great about Star Wars and tosses it out the airlock, but Attack of the Clones is arguably even worse. It's a confusing CGI snoozefest where nothing quite makes sense, and a romantic subplot between Anakin and Padme makes you want to bash your head against the wall.

How on God's green Earth is it possible that what is widely considered the best film of the saga, The Empire Strikes Back, ranks second-to-last, with Return of the Jedi taking the final spot?

    It's an outrage!!! Poor guy.

Let's buy him some Jar Jar-themed milk and cookies.

Don't forget this article too Cryo. Discusses the overall figures for dvd sales & rentals, incl the PT & OT: http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/star-wars-the-force-awakens-home-video-blu-ray-1201753139/

Ah, yes. That old chestnut: plausibly-deniable sarcasm.

He does deserve a lot of cheers, in my opinion -- especially to counteract all that hate and vilification he's received the last twenty years.

Ultimately, of course, his manifold achievements speak for themselves.

Well, yeah, that's cool 'n' all, I suppose.

TFA is at Number One. But then, it's brand new, so that's to be expected.

While the Original Trilogy is a bit further down at 10th place, and the Prequel Trilogy a little below that, sitting snugly in 13th.

The baker's dozen. That'll just about do ya.

Just goes to show that the internet snarks just can't handle the fact that the general audience just enjoys Star Wars, be it prequel or original, and that they don't necessary accept the supposed empirical ordering of what's "supposed to be best."

Some more evidence that proves the prequel-films are generally disliked by people who grew up with the originals.... The generation of kids who grew up watching the prequels, in general, love the prequels and don't watch the originals as much......... George Lucas even said he believes this BECAUSE he got a lot of hate up until the PT-generation kids grew up and he started to hear more positive things about the prequels.
