I listened to TPM's OST again, and 'The Street Singer' really compells me...

    Very eerie...

Does anyone know what this track was recorded for?
It would be great TPM DVD Menu Music. (if it is, sorry, I don't have a DVD Player to play my own DVD :/ )

Perhaps I'm out of the loop, but I don't know what you're talking about. Still, I'm interested. Where can I hear this?

It's included as a Bonus Track in The Phantom Menace OST Ultimate Edition (w Blue Maul face on cover)

I believe it was also given out at some SW event shortly before AOTC, C2 was it?

I think (and I say think) the music is used when Watto and Qui-Gon are talking to each other after the race about receiving the T-14 Hyperdrive plus his other 'prizes'. I can't be bothered playing the movie right now to check, but I think it's that spot where it's used, quite faintly as well. I liked that track, hehe. If I'm wrong, I'd appreciate being corected :D

I just rewound my VHS, and I don't hear it after the race where Watto is trying to squirm out of the deal...

Ok... I just went to play that scene with Watto and Qui-Gon after the race. I do hear it on my DVD on that scene. It is pretty faint but you can pick it up if you're listening for it. This is the music titled "The Street Singer", from track 35 of the Episode 1 Ultimate Edition. It's that eerie, kind of 'drugged' music, because that track is what I hear on that scene. Unless the VHS version doesn't have that????

Vador is right. A month or so ago I noticed it in the scene where Watto is trying to get out of the bet after the podrace.

In fact, it's made to sound like it's coming out of the stadium's PA system. Really cool effect, IMO.

It is played during the Watto/Qui Gon scene. When I saw it in theaters I was sitting right by the THX surround sound speakers and the song was very distinct where I was. The song only came out of the surround speakers, that is how they acheived that background effect.

Yes. This is source music, NOT score. Meaning it is music that is supposed to be coming from a source on screen. The Cantina Band, the Jedi Rocks song... those are source music.

What makes you think that? I knew it was source music as soon as I heard it on the TPM UE CD like 2 years ago...

    I hate that track. :( There's no....anything, beat, rhythm, anything. :p

Seriously, though, I always skip that track and Desert Winds.

I never hear it. See I edited together my own version of the TPM score. And I removed all the damn source music cuz I don't want that stuff mixed in.
