SWC **The SWC Awards Improvement Discussion Thread**

Hello, and welcome to the SWC Awards Improvement Discussion. The purpose of this thread is to discuss any changes to rules, or to the awards and categories that anyone feels need to be made. Please, don’t be shy about posting feedback, such as comments, suggestions, and so forth.

Here is where we stand at present.


Introduction

Hello, and welcome to the SWC awards. The purpose of these awards is to recognize those JCF members who are faithful to participate in the Star Wars Community activities, such as the CCC, games and fanclubs. This event is meant to be fun, so relax and enjoy!

What? You don't know what you're supposed to be doing? Well, let me tell you!

You MUST read the rules. If you do not adhere to them, you and/or your vote may be disqualified. Don't put me through that. Please. Don't turn this into a drama-fest. Double please.

Rules:

1. Post your nominations in this thread.

2.PM your votes to the host.

3. The SWC Awards will occur a few times per year. Users will have two weeks to nominate SWCers for the awards. The top three nominees for each award will then move on to the next round to be voted on. Users will have one week to vote on the nominees. (Hear that, folks? One. Week. No exceptions or negotiations on this matter.

4. You cannot nominate yourself. Whomever does so will be exempt from all awards. However, you can vote for yourself in the second round.

5. Please do not spam the thread.

6. Socks are not allowed. This will result in his/her votes being thrown out. A 24 hour ban will be issued for the main account and all socks of that JCF member.

7. The winner of the most revered and much unattainable position of Best Patron shall be bestowed with VIP status for two weeks. In the utterly impossible event of a tie occurring, the winners will cooperate to decide the single winner of that category. The user with the most awards at the end will have another one added to their virtual collection -- the Golden Statue Award.

I think the rule regarding ties needs to be revamped as it caused numerous delays during the last iteration of the awards.

I also think that a rule should be added that requires all participating individuals to post the complete list of categories and award fields, filling in as many as they wish. In other words, please nominate fully.

New Rule: 1. Post your nominations in this thread, and all who participate must nominate fully. This means that a complete list of the categories and awards are to be posted, with as many fields being filled in as the participating individual desires. Once you post your nominations, you may not repost, so please be sure of your choices beforehand.

This is to cut out the one and two nomination posts, and the, "I forgot to add this, or that person."

Bazinga'd I also agree with changing Rule 3, Baz. I think once a year is enough.

I agree that once a year is probably enough. The EUC does their awards twice a year, but splits them up so some are given during the fall and others during the spring.

If more than one award is tied, there will be a 48-hour voting extension period. If a decision cannot be reached within 48 hours, the host and the moderators will vote via PM to decide the winner of the category. The user with the most awards at the end will have another
one added to their virtual collection -- the Golden Statue Award.

I would get rid of the cooperation bit entirely and just declare there to either be ties or say that ties will be decided by a combination of he game host and moderation staff. Of course that is just my personal opinion.

If one or more awards are tied, the winner will be decided by the host and mods by voting via PM.

It is. I had to make sure that you understood that since you indicated your confusion. Instead of having extensions, and dragging everything out, Just do away with all that, and let the host and mods decide via PM by voting.

How about a limit of only one award to a poster?

Also how about some awards for favorite threads?

Limiting awards to one per poster is a no go, too much involved in figuring out which award a potential multiple award winner should get and so forth. Besides if a person earns more than one award I think they deserve it.

Favorite thread could work, but yeah there would have to be some limitations on that like Bazinga'd said.

 

Maybe some presenters to go along with host(s)?

these caused a bit of upset last time due to the winner of those awards being in a very bad state mental wise at the time, thus being unfair.


Besides would anyone who truly are the above WANT to be thought of as such?

 

I would on both counts. I would take pride in winning such an award.
