Simply because we haven't had one for a while.

Teabag, then hot water, stir, remove teabag, then milk, in that order, relatively quickly.

    That is all.

    Correct.

Although if you use a teapot, then milk should be added first.

And one must have a raised pinky, as is proper etiquette.

When my manager makes me a cup of tea at work, he puts far too much milk in it. As a consequence, I always have to ensure that I put the milk in before he does. Does anyone else suffer from this kind of problem, and it is a real problem?

Noooo... Milk, teabag, hot water, brew, stir, remove teabag, in that order and not that quickly. :p That way, you don't get nasty tea stains in yer cup. :-B

But of course we all know that coffee is far superior... [face_mischief]

At my old school all the pupils used to have to do "reception duty" for a few days. My mate did this and one of his dutys was to make tea for all the receptionists in the office. So, he made about six cups of tea with the way described here. Tea bag, hot water, stir, milk, stir. As he was finishing this one receptionist came in and caught him making the cups of tea. And the cow made him tip away all six cups and start again, this time using the "correct" tea pot method![face_laugh]

Milk should be put in before the hot water as to prevent the milk going funny.

That was mostly due to the cups being thin, the milk would cool the tea so that the cups didn't break when it was poured in. It doesn't matter these days and is just personal preference.

FWIW, I add the teabag first, then the water, brew it for a bit, remove the teabag, then add milk. No sugar.

That's not what you said before Sinre... [face_whistling]

How are we supposed to learn how to make tea properly when you're being inconsistent and all?!? :_| :p

Tea bags? Those things are an abomination. One should always use loose leaf tea in a tea ball, a strainer or even a thin paper coffee filter. Never a prepackaged tea bag. [face_not_talking]

I take my tea(generally Earl Grey, black cut & orange pekoe or Assam) with only sugar in it. Lots of sugar.

You have lots of sugar in your tea and yet you have the nerve to say tea bags are bad? Putting any amount of sugar in tea is a crime far worse than using a tea bag. If one's tea must be sweetened then it should be honey. I'm afraid to say, Mr Darth_Gangrenous, that you opinion on the subject of proper tea etiquette can not be trusted. [face_not_talking]

Indeed. I suggest that before you remove the speck of dust from the eye of us teabag users, you remove the plank from yours. :p

Really? I find it to be quite nice if it's just a subtle hint. I do prefer milk though but I've ran out of milk and been unable to get more, whereas I always have lime juice in my fridge.

    That was deliberate! :p

I personally prefer lime juice to lemon juice but I know that lemon juice is far more common so it made sense (to me) to ask about that.

Yes moose, of course it was deliberate... *Pats moose on the head* :p

Hang on a sec - why do you have lime juice in your fridge anyways? I can understand lemon - it's good for cooking and cleaning silver (:-B), but what purpose does lime juice have?

Same use as lemon juice. Mostly I do just use it for pancakes though, I find it tastes nicer than lemon.
