I didn't think "fanboy" or "fangirl" was derogatory at all, until quite recently. I called someone a fangirl and she basically projectile vomited reason after reason after reason why "fangirl" is derogatory. I figured if someone can get so angry about it, it must be pretty offensive, after all.

Rude, obnoxious jerks. Still dragging on my thread? When I asked for Grimby to lock it, I wanted to see it die. anakinfansince1983, I'm disappointed. I enjoyed our brief discussion in The WInds of War/War and Remembrance thread, but after you participated in dumping on me, whether in fun or not, I lost my respect for you. With the stuff I'm seeing now in this thread, it seems my original instinct to permanently leave was correct after all. I am tired and fed up with having to deal with such rude people on here. Can't anyone have a civilized discussion anywhere or are we so ready to poke fun that a bunch of threads degenerate into bickering? This is a prime example or what is wrong in this country today. After the trainwreck of that thread and seeing the thread on World History locked - though that was partly my fault, I'll admit that - I've had enough. You won't be seeing me again. All of you may laugh and bet, "Oh, she's just bluffing, she'll be back," but just watch.
