alright... so i'm not sure i can really go wrong with either of the guys i'm looking at, but i'm going to take Jerry West. i'll figure out the year later.

 

yeah i had no expectations whatsoever about OROB falling to me, but i'm still a little bummed. lol

I think the logo is a bit overrated and went early. Which means you guys are just begging NYJ to have a sick team around Wilt.

I'm not doing the kind of in-depth stat comparison I would be doing as a GM, but in terms of the PG as a role position, Jerry West doesn't really crack my top 5. And in a game with 12 starting positions, that's not a great move in the second round. Also, I happen to think PG is pretty deep, and if you missed Big O or Magic already, there's really no point in taking one yet.

given exactly how many really, really good shooting guards there are, i disagree. after jordan there's very few people i'd take over the logo. MAYBE kobe, but he's gone.

if i were playing him at PG? yea, you'd have a point. but it was between him and two other people, both of whom i suspect will still be around.

 

Well, he does put up some points, and his ts% is great, so if the sim gives him the ball you could get some good numbers out of him. I'm not sure how the sim ranks him defensively, as the stats aren't there for most of his career.


I guess my point is, you could have had a really dominant post game with a couple of other guys that are still out there. Hard to go wrong right now though.

 

yea, i know. that's why i haven't figured out what year i'm taking him from yet. but as a scorer/shooter, there aren't many better than west. and having a shooting guard that knows how to pass the ball as well? yes please.

 

It's all about value. The gap between the Logo and other available guards vs the gap between premium big men and who might be there next time around. I'd take an elite big man and roll the dice on guards

 

There are a few years where West has a 90 defensive rating, so if you pick one of those he'll be real solid.

 

if i didn't have shaq already? yea. but the only one i value at that level that was left was hakeem.

his last season as a player he was rated at a 95. i'd imagine he was a lot better than that earlier in his career.

question: can we change the year we picked someone before drafting ends?
