I'm looking for new recipes in general that are tested to be awesome, since I do very little cooking and am lazy. Bonus points if you have a good recipe for extra firm tofu. Extra. Firm.

Pescatarians go get your own thread.

I know some Indian food that is vegetarian friendly. Doesn't use tofu though; uses actual vegetables.

Hey, I'm a vegetarian too. I knew you were cool.

The stuff I use is mostly foreign to you if you're in the US, I think. I'll look.

If vegetarian food is so good, why does so much pretend to look like meat? And why are we omnivores? And why is meat so ****ing delicious?

I've got a pretty tasty pasta recipe that I was taught so as to be able to feed myself that is equal parts simple and with, like, plants in it. And vegetarian-friendly sausage.

I like the crispy fried tofu some asian take outs do. Every once in a while they'll put it in their hot and sour soups too.

How much practice does it take before you're really good at it?

Some of the brands I have here: Quorn, Vivera, Seitan--Seitan, which is wheat gluten: the kind of extra firm stuff you might be looking for (if you're not allergic to gluten). There's Linda McCartney Foods, but the supermarkets over here stopped carrying it a few years ago. Maybe they still sell it somewhere in that ghetto where you live. And many local stores have their own vegetarian brands of course.

As for recipes, I'm not much of a cook either. I can only suggest the obvious: websites, cookbooks, the sagely gnomes in the forests, et cetera.

I've been eating a lot more vegetarian recently for relationship reasons. I can recommend basically every Indian vegetarian dish but I don't have any idea how to make them, sorry.

I eat quinoa with olive oil, lemon juice and garlic. What you described sounds really good though, I'm going to have to try that.

I used to be totally vegetarian and I still don't eat meat every day. The Vegetarian Times website and cookbooks have the best recipes IMO; there are several tofu recipes there I believe. I know I've used tofu in some of the cookbook recipes.

You know what is a lifesaver as a vegetarian?

Asian food. You can make stir fried rice, stir fried noodles, stir fried vegetables. It's a real life saver. Also, almond milk with cereal is a kick-ass staple.

I never get too fancy during fast (I go vegan twice a year for six weeks before Christmas and before Easter), but I'll think of some more tips and maybe share some recipes when I have time.

It's best to put the feta and basil in while the quinoa is still warm so the feta gets gooey and the basil can release it's amazing aroma and flavor.

I have an unhealthy relationship with seitan. Been an herbivore for over 2 decades and spent that time ingesting cooked wheat gluten. I plan to die, soon...
