Will everyone get their business together? I have better things to do with my online time than be the guardian angel on a non-event RPG. I don't mean to sound rude but I got a heap of other stuff to do on top of posting with you guys :(

So please.....someone sort out who's gonna represent the President and move along?

You're free to go at any time, I don't even know why they appointed you. ?[face_plain] I mean it's not like I broke any of the forum rules. Dude, don't let this 'trial' hold you back. We'll manage without the mod. Im still baffled as to why they asked you to mediate this.

"The defense may make its opening statements."

Lando_the_Pimp loosed a great sigh. This was to be the most important trial in his life, and possibly in the history of the galaxy.

"Your Honor, esteemed members of the jury, and audience members, I'm here to defend one Jarv Yarlik, President and Founder of the New Rebel Alliance, in which he created after the old leaders were killed.

"Now, for my opening statements. First of all, according to Imperial Law 76.7, Article 2, isn't President Yarlik innocent until solid proof is brought against him to prove his guilt?

"Point 1: Yarlik did not violate the Galactic Alliance Treaty, based on the fact that General Zaarin is a criminal and backstabber. He attacked a known friend and ally of the Rebel Alliance, the Morians. Under a full-fledge alliance, that peace is to be extended to allies of your partner. Also, Zaarin is a spy for the Imperials, being a part of Imperial Intelligence. Zaarin admitted that he was trying to get the ship schematics for the Library, and possibly Intel. Sharing information is not covered by the treaty, and is an illegal activity, punishable by law.

"Point 2: Yarlik did not provoke the attack, and the fiasco did not happen on Imperial territory. The Tiger ventured into Rebel controlled space, without broadcasting any identification signal. All ships, when entering an allied-controlled system, are to broadcast some sort of identification signal, so he isn't viewed as a hostile.

"He did, however, send a signal that he was on a peaceful mission, and wished to speak to the command staff of Olympus. Again, though, he had no identification. Also, this information isn't covered by the treaty, which means Zaarin broke the law. As did his superior, for ordering this.

"Each system also has different laws when considering someone a criminal. If you look at Eriadu law, Zaarin is a criminal.

"Lastly, President Yarlik has been very competent at leading the Rebel Alliance. He has taken it from a shaky group, to a powerful force. It is a false accusation to say that he is incompetent and a poor leader. Also, it does not pertain to the point of this trial. It is an opinionated statement, and should be disregarded.

"To sum it up, your honor, Jarv Yarlik is innocent, as there is no concrete evidence proving otherwise. The criminals are Intelligence officers Protege-of-Thrawn, and General Zaarin. That is all for my opening statements."

Zaarin's face turned scarlet with rage as Yarlik's lawyer spurted lies by the second. "LIES, LIES, LIES!" the Caridan screamed into the microphone. "How dare you call me or Director Lavos CRIMINALS!? Me attacking enemies of the Empire is hardly justification for you to burn my flesh off! Its hardly legal to pay the Morias to attack us while under truce!" Zaarin yelled. "And I did transmit my identification!"

OCC: I may be mistaken Lando the Pimp, but you can not make any accusations regaurding any one without some type of proof.

ICC: Mark continued to watch from his quarters while eating a grazen berry.

Guards rushed to Zaarin's side and shuffled him away "Sir, you're in contempt of court and shall be escorted out of here to a cell, until it's time for you to speak."

    Lavos stood and glared vehemently.

"You will of course, be required to present evidence to back up these statements in your trial, Mr. Pimp."

"I call this court to order, General Zaarin is to be held in custody until such a time as he is to be heard."

"Prosecution may begin it's case when ready."

Sitting back down, holding on to his fury, Director Lavos continued to listen to the trial.

High Admiral Cast fainally got his turn and stood up.

Cast: "First off, the Galactic Empire is right, you must have facts to back up your statements. Secondly, the minute President Yarlick tortered (sp?) General Zaarin, the president was rouge, the Rebel Alliance had no more ties with President Yarlick, the minute he did those acts."

High Admiral Cast took his seat again, and waited for the defense to shoot back a statement.

During the opening arguments, neither side has to provide evidence to back up the claims. Evidence is to be provided later during the deliberation.

the long and short of it is this:

both sides prevent their opening statements, which outlines their case. Then they take turns presenting all of their evidence, be it testimony of witnessess, material evidence, etc. Prosecution goes first, defense second. finally, after both sides have rested, they each make closing statements and the jury (or in this case tribunal) leaves to deliberate. they return with a verdict and the judge hands down a sentence.

you want a little help here bravo?

OOC: Since PoT is not an official judge. As per GAJ's orders he is however acting judge until the others are online. Also he doesn't get a vote on my fate. Sooo....Im not being mean, just stating a fact.
