Guess that's why he decided to join the gun legistlation filibuster today. He's going to need the NRA and a whole host of extreme right wingers to win re-election now.

I don't see the turtle or Mother Jones coming out of this looking good. McConnell no doubt trying to gin up a controversy to boost horrific approval ratings, but it looks like he may have stumbled into the right door. This looks shady.

It's not over yet, they just need 5 votes to break the filibuster. They have 55 votes to pass it. And Boehner has said he would allow it to be voted on in the House, so most Democrats with enough Republicans should pass it there. It's the filibuster that's the problem.

Not sure why 16 Republicans voted for cloture to begin debate, but only 4 voted for cloture to end debate.

The NRA won a tactical victory at the expense of a major strategic error. The next time a mass shooting happens, particularly if it's within the next year, a lot of eyes will turn toward the NRA, and they'll face more heat than ever. Eventually, they're not going to be able to stop gun control victories from being won. They should have given up a bit of ground to preserve most of what they've gained.

    Bad call.

Shootings and the NRA have been co-existing long before now. Until Senators stop fearing the effect that the NRA lobby will have on their re-election, no chance. This was the best opportunity with a friendly Senate and White House they'll likely have for a long time.

I love all the people who are shocked that special interest groups and their lobbies run every facet of this country..

the sheeple are the ones who are being taken advantage of though... Our current government isn't working for the people as much as they work for special interest groups and big business.

The NRA certainly is. Mass shootings = a boost in gun sales.

hmm... well maybe we need to figure out how to do some reverse mass shootings. there will be a huge drop in gun sales. the problem with that, however, is all eyes will turn away from the nra, and they will face the least amount of heat ever.

We probably need Wayne LaPierre to go on a massive murder spree to really undermine the NRA.

Even if CISPA were to pass (which it won't) it's pretty easy to change your password.
