i found j-rod's youtube channel



i think im becoming mildly addicted to these videos. they're short, stupid, and call the entire medium of youtube into question (wouldn't these work better as audio files/podcasts?!)

plus i keep finding fascinating little quirks in his videos. in this one, i love the weird way he says "jihad". it's not his natural accent, and its not a proper arabic pronunciation either. its like he's just slotted an italian phoneme or something in there and been like "good enough" but then the question is why would he even go out of his way to try to pronounce a dirty arab word correctly in the first place?

I am aware of almost nothing on Youtube that wouldn't work better as an audio podcast/radio broadcast. With the very narrow exception of film trailers, most things are just people talking, which is accomplished well enough without having to see them or their living room/sound stage/whatever place.

Just got push polled against Mesa, AZ city council debating an equal rights bathroom usage proposal for schools in the area. Being push polled is such a fun experience when you're opposed to the direction they want to influence you in.

They're reading me all these statements like "would this make you more or less likely to support the law having heard this information" and I'm like "can I pick 'no change' since the statement was incomprehensible nonsense?"

Seems like great news. If she survives this, I'm not sure how she can make it through the general. I don't recall seeing much in the way of advertising against her, and she's teetering on the brink of defeat.

 

i wanna know more about lesbian farmers.

 

My former housemate was from Finland and listening to her talk about their school system as it is now was so far out of what we know in the U.S. and it was amazing. She got a PhD. and never had to pay a dime for any of her time in school, an option that's available to anyone.

It's really the no standardized tests I love as well. I think all that happens today is we teach to the test and that's it. It's not actual learning, it's learning to take a test.

 

looks like she survived. i dunno enough about county recorder races to comment on whether or not she'll win the general. my instinct is that party identity might be enough to carry her through. it's mostly democrats/bernie supporters that were pissed about the shinanigans this past election, who probably wouldn't have voted for her anyways, right?

i think we have a shot at finally being rid of arpaio tho. polls still seem to indicate he's gonna finally get pried out of that office like the ****ing gastropod he is
