Yeah, but no one's relitigating the usage of the term "BernieBro" which I'm more than thankful for.

Only one I could find so far approaching what it appear to me you said. Rudolf Hoess's final statement four days before his execution. Source: Manfred Deselaers, "Und Sie hatten nie Gewissensbisse?" Die Biographie von Rudolf Höß, Kommandant von Auschwitz, und die Frage nach seiner Verantwortung vor Gott und den Menschen (Leipzig: Benno-Verlag, 1997).

My conscience compels me to make the following declaration. In the solitude of my prison cell I have come to the bitter recognition that I have sinned gravely against humanity. As Commandant of Auschwitz I was responsible for carrying out part of the cruel plans of the "Third Reich" for human destruction. In so doing I have inflicted terrible wounds on humanity. I caused unspeakable suffering for the Polish people in particular. I am to pay for this with my life. May the Lord God forgive one day what I have done. I ask the Polish people for forgiveness. In Polish prisons I experienced for the first time what human kindness is. Despite all that has happened I have experienced humane treatment which I could never have expected, and which has deeply shamed me. May the facts which are now coming out about the horrible crimes against humanity make the repetition of such cruel acts impossible for all time.

Since I could only find one example I'll add this from a former KKK member, as well as my favorite quote from the interview. "Why you wearing white sheets? Halloween's four more months away!"[/quote]

Something that interests me is Nixon's "silent majority." The media showed mass protests, but Nixon knew that the majority of Americans thought he was doing a good job. This included the majority of 18-20 year olds, so Nixon lowered the voting age from 21 to 18. Sure enough, the majority of 18-20 year old voters voted for Nixon over McGovern.

darklordoftech: The youth favored Nixon by 4%, but your point still stands. It astonishes me that Nixon garnered a 67% approval rating in Jan. '73. Yes, I realize there were many facets (e.g., Vietnamization, mainstream backlash to the counterculture movements, the opening of China), but still, Nixon was the very rotter who boasted of having a secret plan to end the war in '68, and instead prolonged the nightmare for the entirety of his first term. I would understand an even split, but 67% for the Mad Bomber?

Ghost in the Shell. Can't do cat-ears on that; distracts from the nudity of the pseudo-anime girls.

there's no "communism" either. i think they went for more specific ideological flavors rather than broad terms, at least in categories that deserve it (obviously fascism didn't get that treatment cuz fascism sucks) and they didn't bother splitting neoliberalism into "conservatives" and "liberals" for the american audience

Well, Rogue_Ten, I think many people equate Marxism with communism even though you and I know that's only one specific strain. But hey, you got at least one forced collectivist up there.

I feel nothing but sympathy and pity today for Muhammad Raham and First American Fried Chicken, even though he ran my own Fifth Third Fried Chicken Corp out of business.

I feel sympathy for anyone who comes here to make a better life for themselves and their family only to find their dream shattered. As far as I know, he was just that.

Yeah, his response to being investigated for chasing a 15 year old girl with sexting is, if I saw this right, he thought it was a hoax but allowed himself to fall into it.

This makes me wonder: Was Humphrey too honest for his own good? Humphrey said that "there's still work to be done" in Vietnam until the final moments of his campaign and was openly for school bussing while Nixon claimed "peace is at hand" and claimed to be for "states' rights". In truth, Nixon had no plan to end the Vietnam War and was also for school bussing.
