Think: what did Nero do as Rome burned?

Obama's insisting on an orderly transition of power in a scene of conflagration and chaos, meaning there's no point to an orderly transition since the whole system is literally burning down.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Nero played the flute! OK I get it now! So in other words Obama is doing nothing! Thanks for clearing it up!

No, it means he is basically obvious to the realities around him.

    EDIT: Fiddle. Not flute.

Pretty sure it's meant to criticize or make fun of Obama's calm demeanor even as the country is burning down around him. Though in fairness to him, I don't think there is anything he could say or do.

What's this? Ender has misspelled a word in the glorious English language? Recorded for posterity, and before he can edit it!

You know the constant "look at this inconsequential thing Clinton won" looks really pathetic, right?

I know it's policy to not leave a gif in response to a post, so this sentence is to satisfy that requirement. ;)

In Trump campaign lies news today, it is being reported that Trump said multiple times that (for example) a company named Carrier that makes air conditioners will pay 35% tax on each air conditioner because they are firing 1400 people and moving a factory to Mexico. That company will not pay that tax, will open their Mexican factory, but Trump showed up and talked Indiana into giving them 7 million dollars to stop another 800 workers from being fired.

    God save this planet.

Also I'm loving how frustrated Trump supporters are about people not accepting his distancing himself from white supremacists... kind of like how Muslims try to distance themselves from ISIS and conservatives just won't accept it.

The equivalent of what Trump has done while claiming to "distance himself" would be CAIR hiring a known radical jihadist in a leadership position.

we're in the era of sports team politics. people root for 'their team' no matter what, and are happy with what they do no matter what. Then they watch one brand of news that tells them how to think with no idea it's one big ratings soap opera.

Okay well, when one "team" starts doing this (it was the Republicans btw), what can the other side do but to do the same? And unless you're crazy, you should have noticed that Republicans are infinitely more ferocious in their partisanship, while Democrats are still talking about "bipartisanship", "compromise" and "oh no why can't we get along?" and are getting steamrolled as a result.

What can we do? Try to be responsible and do what's right.

You guys don't have to keep talking hypothetically about abandoning all your principles, by the way. If abandoning decency and good governance are such a huge temptation, and so soon after the election at that, then the proclaimed love for Michelle Obama's speech was as much cynical lies and self-flattering rhetoric as the idea that Mexicans are

Not saying we should abandon all principles, but we do need to recognize that there already exists another team out there that's hell-bent on destroying everything we stand for, and the only way to stop them is if we support our own team and fight back. It's like, after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor...are we just going to just sit by and protest loudly while saying "no, we're not going to play their game"?

What a load of bull****. Remember Obama's comments of "I won" and "I have a pen and a phone"? Not exactly words that encourage bipartisanship.

    Pot, meet kettle.

He said those things in response to complete, deliberate, and persistent partisan obstructionism on literally all issues of Senate business, and in spite of attempts to invite Republican cooperation on major initiatives. For instance, although he clearly didn't care for them, he made 1/3rd of the stimulus bill tax cuts, because he knew Republicans liked them. He talked with Olympia Snowe for a good two months straight, allowing her to make changes to Obamacare even though she ultimately didn't even vote for it. When Trump is as reasonable and Democrats are as unyielding, it will be appropriate for him to say the same. Not, you know, less than one month after the election.
