    That's crazy!

I can remember when the Tories barely had a single opinion poll lead from 1993 to 2005!

1991, during the Gulf War, was the last time the Tories had this level of support. Highest poll lead since 1983.

Times will be announce a political defection tomorrow morning; it is believed to be from Labour to LD (but could easily be former UKIP to Tories)

Yes but, as you must take into account, grassroots Labour membership has exploded to 214%, meaning the entire adult and non-voting age population of the UK, plus over half the Netherlands, are Labour members. Corbyn landslide, V2 was right all along.

I thought Ender was all saying that center-left parties have failed their electorate and should become more populist? So why's he criticizing Corbyn?

This is grown up politics, Alpha-Red. Continuing spewing your mad theories in the US politics thread.

Back to topic. Poll on best PM (which, historically speaking, has been more accurate in true party support):

    May 54% (+4) Corbyn 15% (+1)

I was mocking V2's fanboy hyperbole, Alpha. And I've explained this like 8 times to you. Stop being a pillock.

Huh? From what I can tell, your position is that there needs to be a strong left-wing party to keep the conservatives from going off the rails, even if you don't agree with those left-wing positions yourself. Which is exactly what Corbyn is doing, isn't it?

A "strong left wing party" is one that stays close to the center (from where general elections are typically won) rather than throwing themselves into a radical, far left orthodoxy that makes them totally unelectable.

This general election is a case in point. Theresa May is only having this election because Jeremy Corbyn has made Labour so unpopular with the wider public. Would she be daring to hold an election if she was 10% behind in the polls rather than 20% ahead?

    Of course not!

MP Douglas Carswell, who defected from the Conservatives to UKIP three years ago and then quit UKIP last month, will not stand in the next election. He will be supporting the Conservative candidate.

BBC News have a list going of those leaving and those hoping to stand at the next election. Vince Cable says he is standing for the Lib Dems, as are Sir Simon Hughes and Sir Ed Davey.

So much for British liberalism - attempting to reinstate male, white, who lost their seats at the next election.

I've explained this more than once, and I'm kind of annoyed you don't get it. It's incredibly simple, which means repeating it is wholly unnecessary.

In other disconnected from reality news:

Author (and possible RL identity of V2):

Far right supporters will believe anything, if you say "oh look, here is a Muslim" in a picture.

And before people yell freedom of speech at me; freedom of speech does not include the right to falsely accuse someone of supporting an act of terrorism based of their skin colour or religion.

V2 must be so tilted right now as to be face first on the ground.

I do love the Labour logic though.

BLAIR: Vote for whomever is going to give the best outcome for Britain, and set aside traditional party allegiance.
LABOUR: We may have been indifferent to the point of being complicit in the outcome of Brexit, but ignore him and vote for us because we'll be much much better on Brexit, promise.

    lol @ labour

Also, in before Alpha-Red is confused by this.

    Warning signs for Labour
Data from the British Election Study suggest Conservatives are piling up votes in Labour-held seats.....

.....There are, however, clear warning signs for Labour that the party may under-perform in seats its current miserable levels in (reported) vote share

Jez. Farron seems Hell bent sinking the Lib Dem's; third day running and he refuses to say whether or not he thinks gay sex is a sin. BBC reporting a protester turned up with a "Farron hates Gays" sign at a Lib Dem rally.

Given the amount of time he's had to shut this down one can only assume he DOES actually think gay sex is sinful!

So the polling continues to be utterly dreadful for Labour and Jeremy Corbyn.

Latest "Poll of poll" from Electoral Calculus has Conservatives 47%, Labour 25% Con Lead 22% - This translates to 410 seats for the Tories and 161 seats for Labour - That would be Labour's lowest number of seats since 1931 I believe?

Conservatives have an overall majority of 170!

    http://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/homepage.html

Over the weekend a clutch of polls gave the Conservatives massive leads including a ComRes poll that had the Tories on an unbelievable 50% of the vote!

In Scotland a poll at the weekend had the Conservatives as the main opposition to the SNP within 11% of the Scot's Nats. SNP 44% Con 33% SNP Lead 11% In this poll Labour is on a lowly 13% and predicted to lose their one and only seat in Scotland. The Tories would gain 12 seats, 11 coming from the SNP and one from Labour.

The situation is even more extraordinary in Wales. A YouGov poll released this afternoon gives the Conservatives an 10% lead over Labour in Wales. Con 40% Lab 30% Con Lead 10%

This would see the Tories ten seats from Labour in Wales to become the biggest party.

    http://www.itv.com/news/wales/2017-04-24/shock-poll-suggests-tories-ahead-in-wales/

To put that in perspective the last general election that Labour didn't win in Wales was in 1918! The last time the Tores won a general election in Wales was 1859!!!!! When Lord Palmerston (Liberal) was battling The Earl Of Derby (Conservative)

Safe to say at the moment it looks like Labour is heading for a complete and total cluster ****

Ender Sai needs to get on the blower and advise Labour on how to do a Bob Hawke and get rid of their waste of space leader during an election campaign!
