GMP confirming 19 dead and 50 injured. Being treated as a terrorist incident.

Seems this has targeted children and young people in particular.

 

CNN is reporting Suicide bomber outside the arena.

 

BBC are simply reporting it as a possible terrorist incident, and advised of a controlled det 5mins ago. If CNN says it, I wouldn't believe it just yet.

 

I'm raging at this. Lost for words right this very moment.

 

Probably get similar odds on Islamic terrorism and "people with good music taste" terrorism.

CNN is reporting that a COBRA meeting's been called.

 

COBRA is a routine briefing session in response to an extraordinary event. They have had COBRA meetings for strikes. It's not really significant.

 

I do not think any official confirmations have been made public as of yet but both Fox and CNN have said the body of a male has been located and is a suspected suicide bomber. Rumors he was scared off or denied entry into the arena by security so decided to wait and detonate when people started to exit. I think 80% of the deaths and injuries and going to children on this one which makes physically ill to even think about..

I guess the waiting game begins now to figure out if this nutjob was acting alone or part a specific terror cell but I would be very surprised to learn the psycho was just a lone wolf.

 

I found it rather exploitative a few hours ago when CNN had a woman phone in who had not heard from her daughter. She contacted every hospital and tried getting in touch with authorities and basically kept getting told to stand by. Daughter's phone kept going to voice message. You could hear her trembling as she spoke. This was hours after it happened. And it just didn't sit right with me the way her desperation was exploited by CNN like that. Even Don Lemon seemed uncomfortable holding that conversation with her on air, and he didn't really have a choice since they just kept throwing things at him left and right to report on.

It's highly unlikely that it was just one person responsible for carrying everything out every step of the way. From the indoctrination, to the building of the explosive device, to knowing where and when to be in the arena. I doubt one person would or even could think it all up and carry it out themselves, especially with the end result being a suicide.

 

Heartbreaking news, I was following it late last night and to wake up to the news that 19 have died and many more injured is heartbreaking. I bet many of us on here from nearby the area know this venue and city very well, we all take it for granted going to concerts and other events and yet last night some families may not have had their kids come home. There has been no confirmation here that it was a suicide bomber, but I read (also unconfirmed) reports that the explosion was either just outside or just inside the main foyer of the building where parents were waiting for their kids to come out.

There was a gruesome post on FB last night from some young lady who was supposedly at the show and near the blast. She had just returned to her hotel and was about to clean off the "debris" of the explosion. I thought the post was in bad taste.

 

Up to 22 dead now. 59 injuries . Sort my Ambien I kick in now bed time

 

.....two of my friends were there last night.

 

Its just been on the local news that the police believe that the bomber died in the blast and the death toll has risen. Just awful.

 

One has my friends has been accounted for. The other is still missing.
