Well here we are, polling day has arrived.

Thank goodness we're at the end of the campaign - Easily the worst I can remember in my life-time.

Despite my concerns about a low turnout, apparently polling is already way up on recent elections... 70% turnout expected?

BBC London had a story on this morning about voters in Hackney who had registered prior to the end date for registrations but weren't able to vote because their names hadn't made it onto the polling lists. Not sure if that's a local issue or something more wide-ranging.

Just about 5 hours til the end of polling - and then the 'fun' begins!

I hope you all voted correctly.

There was a queue at my local polling station going out of the door and into the car park, I can't remember that happening before. Hopefully it's a good omen and not a UKIP landslide nightmare.

I think I might nip out and get a bottle of something to watch the coverage tonight...

I'll catch the news in the morning. I'll probably be going to bed around the time the polls close.

No queue at mine but for once there was more than me, the missus and the guys looking after the spot.

UKIP apparently not been to our polling station this year as of yet. Didn't stop them ringing me yesterday on my mobile number (lord knows how they got it) they got an earful before I hung up though.

Still even if you do support UKIP I hope you've voted and exercised your rights to vote even if you're very wrong.

The young Romanian lady delivering UKIP flyers round our way was very sweet, I couldn't bring myself to argue with her (her English wasn't great anyway).

If that's accurate, then, as it was so memorably put:

I'm not particularly optimistic, I'd like to be wrong though.

Same as five years ago though. It will be a conservative minority I have no doubt, but that swing is mind boggling

After seeing the UKIP gains in Sunderland I have my doubts on that exit poll.

UKIP staying on two seats was the only bright spot of that BBC exit poll.

Problem is there was a Tory minority for the last 5 years, but such was their arrogance in power, you wouldn't know it.

If it ends up similar, that effect will probably be worse , with a host of disastrous consequences likely to follow because they won't heed anything or anyone.

The news stateside is projecting conservatives fall just shy of a majority(316 actual 320 needed for majority).

I think you're right Jedi Ben. It would be like an affirmation of their policies if things stayed basically the same.

Affirmation? It'll an affirmation of people being selfish psychotic bastards, willing to do anything for a quick buck and screw everyone else.

People go along with anything until it affects them, then they scream blue murder. That'll happen a lot in the next 5 years.

There'll be numerous people going: 'I voted Tory but I didn't vote for this.' To which there will be a simple answer: 'Oh, what did you expect then?' (Not that Labour was all that much better, lesser evil? Yes, but I'd like a better quality of choices overall!)

The other, bigger problem is the precedent that these electoral 'campaigns' have set. They have, the Tory campaign in particular, with the debate fiasco and the refusal to lay out their £12bn cuts plan, treated the electorate with contempt! But, as it will be deemed successful, it will be used as a model for future ones.
