Very nice. I especially like seeing those joints moving when the legs do. I'd suggest making the legs move a bit slower than they are now, especially when the feet make contact with the floor again after stepping. It has a good flow, but its just coming down a bit fast, like a stomp. Can't wait to see it textured!!

Update: ATAT Walker just about finished (few minor details I might fix up someday, especially neck area).

This was my first time creating and mapping textures onto a 3d model with max. I had trouble at the start because I didn't really understant UVW mapping :)
Once I figured out UVW mapping the rest was a lot easier!

    A few pics:

Here is also a very short video clip I made with the walker. It was mainly a tracking/compositing VFX test.
For the walker I used absolutely no lighting, only Light-probe photo mapping. Except one light I added for the ground shadow.
Also my first time tracking with Voodoo :)

Probably one of the simplest models I've made in a long time.
It's for some sort of flash game and I certainly went a bit over-kill in the design process for what the final output was.

Well, this has been a busy month for me. I've worked on two projects, one for a recording student, and one for my compositing class. All done in Maya, Nuke, and Photoshop.

Cycle of a butterfly animated to music. My focus was the animation. Butterfly was not modeled by me, but I created everything else and animated the butterfly.

Compositing final. Roughly 5-6 weeks of work since I started modeling my ship a bit early. The ship is the F-302 from the Stargate TV shows.

One of my new-found friends and substitutes for the 3DS Max manual Nicolas Brunet wrote up this great little article about cloud creation in Max. It spawned from this video at Siggraph and then he just spiraled out of control and got some fantastic results. Anyone else had experiences/tests of clouds in 3DS Max? I have a short film I'm working on that will have extensive use of them, so this couldn't have come at a better time.

So Ben McEwan has turned me on to this:

Basically, you too can make films like JJ Abrams! But seriously, you can. This instantly came in handy as I had some cg shots for a fanfilm that needed some natural camerawork. I'm also experimenting with taking the data from 3DS to After Effects and using it there, but the applications are probably limited when it comes to that. I think a camera projection shot might be interesting to play around in with this.

It would be nice to see some subtle camera movement if you're going to make a video. Instead of 30 seconds of still frame.

Fair point: Here's an older video of the hangar, but I don't think I shared it here. Definitely more dynamic, as long as you're not bothered by the anaglyph effect. Also features Wil Japsers' viper: http://youtu.be/h6mhgfDo9iM?hd=1

The only problem was that the effect was faked in After Effects, so it did absolutely nothing.

    huh?

    [image=http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq185/todayV4/hmmmmm.png]

LightWave10 has a built in anaglyph camera.. it's literally rendering each frame twice, separated by a fixed horizontal offset. That's as un-"faked" as one can get.

My mistake then. But, your lens in 12mm. It's such a wide shot and the ships are so damn close to the background that there is no depth to the frame. So in other words it essentially has no effect on the human eye. Notice how the red/blue overlays are equal distance from each other at different depths in the shot? They should be further apart when the object is closer to your eyes and narrower when the objects are far away.
