I think no matter who we get through free agency we need to draft Gino Smith. At least create real QB competition and *try* to develop a franchise QB if you can.
The Chiefs are in a poor spot. Smith is not worthy of the #1 pick, however there aren't any standout players screaming for someone to trade for the #1 pick.
Playoff Prediction Time Wildcard Round Texans over Bengals Packers over Vikings Colts over Ravens Seahawks over Redskins Divisional Round Packers over Niners Patriots over Texans Seahawks over Falcons Broncos over Colts Conference Championships Broncos over Patriots Packers over Seahawks (in a classically awesome rematch!) Super Bowl Broncos over Packers
(Though admittedly, it would be great to see a Seattle-Green Bay rematch in the NFC championship game--and I would root for it, and a Packers victory, if the Seahawks, perish the thought, get past Washington.)
Panthers sticking with Ron Rivera. Needs a big draft, they've been great the last two years in the first round with Cam and Kuechly, but new GM. They're one of the more talented teams in the league who have had two straight losing seasons- that could mean many things, two of which are maturity and coaching. I guess Richardson doesn't think it is coaching. I like the Texans, Packers, Ravens, and Redskins this week. San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, and New England next week, then Denver edging San Fran in the SB as payback for 55-10.
I just realized I picked the Redskins to win this week, and Seattle to win next week. Meant Washington.
I'm ready for some football! Edit: Anyone else seeing reports that Webb is starting for the Vikings instead of Ponder?
What I heard on ESPN NFL Countdown was that Webb had taken more snaps this week as a contingency plan incase Ponder had to come out of the game. Ponder's still starting.
They just announced during the Texans/Bengals game that Ponder was declared inactive for tonight's game.
I'm a little bit hopeful that the Vikings are going to be off with their backup in, and a little bit scared that Webb will have some freak game and we won't know what to do with him. Mostly hopeful, though.
Three of the last four years, the playoff opener on Wildcard weekend has featured the Bengals. They've lost all three times. Maybe they can convince the league to let them play on Sunday next time they qualify?
Report: Parcells declines Jets GM job. Probably a good move, he didn't exactly light it up as a Dolphins exec. Report: Kelly close to deal with Browns for HC job.
I can't understand how that Browns job is more attractive than Philly, if he's looking to run the same speed based offense. Assuming there will be a new QB in either spot, its Maclin/Jackson/McCoy as opposed to just Richardson. Who knows.
I think the big thing is that Cleveland wants him a whole lot more than Philly does. Who knows what's actually going on, but in a game of large egos, having a billionaire want you as much as Kelly is wanted by Cleveland ownership has to help tip the scales.
Hopefully tomorrow's games are better than these. And how crappy is Matt Schaub? Yeesh. I mean I didn't expect anything out of Dalton, but Schaub is supposed to be a fairly good QB, not Tony Romo/Philip Rivers-esque
