What happened to that rule where the ball doesn't advance if an offensive player fumbles the ball forward? What rule am I thinking of?

 

The Bears player can be ruled to have possession, then "fumble" then the Packers "recover"...

 

No way. That's absurd. How is that a possession?

 

I didn't say it was -- I'm just saying that's what the refs can rule.

 

Caught that play, which indeed was ridiculous... yeah I know, player safety & all, but that was/should have been a legal play/hit/rollover.

 

So that is the rule, though, right? I'm not crazy?

 

Anyone can advance a fumble UNLESS it's 4th down or after the 2 minute warning-- then it can only be the fumbling player (or the defense).

 

I need to check but I think Joe Anderson touched the ball when it hit the ground. So then, Pack fumbled, Bears fumbled (???) and then Pack recovered and ran into the endzone....

I'm really frustrated by this move. This is what we always do and it isn't working. It's just a constant carousel of coaches and personnel and quarterbacks and there's no improvement and continually look like a ****ing joke. It's just going to be the same old **** in a new year. Whatever.

Of course they won. KC really didn't have anything to play for this week.. so they didn't. Would have been a different story if Reid hadn't rested his starters.

The Chargers lost that game guys. 4th down fake punt in overtime where the refs gave them the first down? You can't BOTH have forward progress to get the first ground and then suddenly say that the fumble (which the Chiefs returned for the winning TD) doesn't count because the play was over. So what the refs are saying is that as soon as the guy got past the line of scrimmage, even though he was up off the ground and moving forward, the play was magically over because... uh, the refs wanted the Chargers to get into the playoffs? Because that's what it looked like. They didn't even bother to review it. And no one on TV is talking about this at all.

I didn't care about the game and actually would have preferred the Chargers getting in to the Steelers. But no team deserves to get into or out of the playoffs like that. I would be so livid if I were a Steelers fan.

Also I don't know what the hell Rivers and Chargers fans are bragging about... you just barely won a game where 20/22 of our starters were backups. Ten guys we started had never started a single NFL game. And we would have won if not for our kicker missing one he should have made at the end and then the refs strait up taking our win off the board without even reviewing the play. This is why there should still be one coach's challenges each in overtime. This is literally as bad as the fail Mary but no one will talk about it because we aren't a coastal or big city team. Kind of sick of that crap by now.

Anyway, great job by our backups, some of who are almost never even active in games, going out there and playing superior to the Chargers 98% of the game.
