    Part III Xanatos

    Chapter 12

"Master Qui-Gon, interested we are in hearing about your mission to Telos", said Yoda to Qui-Gon when the transmission began. Qui-Gon updated them on everything that had transpired during the battle of Thani.

"A dangerous threat eliminated it was", said Yoda and with that the other masters nodded in agreement.

"The Republic crew is being sent to Coruscant, before I had begun this transmission Crion let me know that they would be taken in a TSF cruiser. Darren Onasi will be onboard along with Representative Tryex who was able to hide out during the invasion of Blue Siphon", said Qui-Gon.

"Pleased the Senate will be", said Yoda.

"The famine relief supplies are being distributed accordingly. Crion has a lot of work with Telos. They will need to reconstruct damaged buildings and reinforce their security defenses. There still has not been a total count on the number of dead", said Qui-Gon.

"You said that Juto had a lightsaber. Could you bring it to us?", asked Mace Windu.

    "Of course", replied Qui-Gon.

"You have done well Qui-Gon Jinn. Your master Dooku will be proud to hear of his former apprentice's success on Telos. We were all worried and I look forward to seeing you when you get here", said Sifo-Dyas.

"Thank you Master Sifo-Dyas, I'll most likely be traveling with the TSF cruiser", said Qui-Gon.

"May the Force be with you", said Yoda.

Qui-Gon bowed and the transmission ended.

Crion was in his main headquarters answering what seemed like multiple calls on his comlink. Qui-Gon had entered and noticed that Crion had other people answering calls and going over datapads. Crion saw Qui-Gon and put the comlink down.

"Master Jedi, it's only been a couple of hours after the battle and now it's all war again. I just got the famine relief supplies set up and people are getting a little out of hand, they're hungry. I've been trying to see if anyone can help us out with the reconstruction, it's all busy work. Darren Onasi is getting medical attention. Once he's taken care of then the Republic crew is going back home. Representative Tryex arrived here just before we talked the last time. I had him go into hiding with my son and some attendants that the boy has grown up with. I'm going to meet them, if you'd like you can come with me and from there you and Representative Tryex can see if Darren will be ready", said Crion.

"That would be fine", said Qui-Gon. Crion offered his hand to the door and the two left the room talking about Telos in general.

"There are rumors that there was once a Jedi Temple here on Telos underneath the polar ice caps. There have been multiple archeological missions but none have turned up a temple. I think it's just speculation since this planet had a part in the Sith Wars", said Crion.

"Is the history of that particular time period a spark of interest? Or is it just because of Telos?", asked Qui-Gon.

"I have learned as much as I can about Telos. I knew enough growing up here, however you'd be surprised about how so many know so little about their environment", replied Crion clasing his hands behind his back.

"The Restoration Project that was started following the Sith Wars was a tremendous success", said Qui-Gon.

"It was, those Ithorians knew what they were doing and now Telos has an ecosystem", said Crion.

They saw Representative Tryex. A man that had gray hair and a beard. His body was a little pudgy and he was dressed in a black garment that resembled a fashion a politician would wear. Behind Tryex were two attendants and a little boy that came up to everyones knees. He had long black hair, fat cheeks, a wide smile and of course a presence of curiousity that was almost infectuous. The boy could walk, but not as fast as the adults which is why they were steadily reaching Qui-Gon and Crion. There was something then in the Force that prickled at the age of Qui-Gon's senses. A Jedi could sense many things in the Force, however something with the capability to use the Force was entirely different.

    "Repre

"This is Xanatos, my son", said Crion gesturing to Xanatos. The boy looked up to Qui-Gon and smiled another wide smile.

"Pleased to meet you, I am Qui-Gon Jinn", said Qui-Gon introducing himself as he squatted to reach Xanatos' level of sight.

"Can you say Qui-Gon Jinn?", asked Crion.

"Ky-Gun-Tinn", said Xanatos and with this Qui-Gon chuckled.

    How cute.

For this I just pictured how one of the kids here at home would act. Kids are cute when they try to say things and sometimes it is pretty funny because they try so hard and it comes out wrong.

Star Wars names are the best for this too. Instead of Millennium Falcon it'll be Men-Falkon.

    Chapter 13

Darren Onasi welcomed Tryex and Qui-Gon as they entered the medical room. A droid was finishing the sealing of a patch over the wound that Darren had taken. Once that as done the droid cleaned up the area and left Darren to speak with his two visitors.

"You know Kurru took a shot for me? If he hadn't of done that I would be dead right now", said Darren looking at Qui-Gon.

    "Who was Kurru?", asked Tryex.

"He was part of Blue Siphon. He defected and agreed to help us. I wish Kurru would have made it out alive, he could have been a damn good TSF", said Darren.

"He is in a better place now. The Jedi do not dwell too long on death because it means that one part of life is complete and another one is to begin. Kurru has become one with the Force", said Qui-Gon. A brief moment of silence fell upon the trio.

"Has Crion told you that you will be escorting the Republic crew to Coruscant?", asked Tryex.

"Yes, he also told me that you will speak to the Senate about sending more relief supplies", said Darren.

"Then you are more than updated. Master Jinn will be coming with us since he is due back at the Jedi Temple", said Tryex.

"That's fine with me. I am going to go make sure that cruiser is prepped and ready to go. The Republic Supply Transport wasn't damaged so the crew should be making their final preps too. When it's all ready I'll call you on your comm", said Darren to Tryex.

"Excellent. I'm going to arrange some details with my aides for my journey", said Tryex and with that he left. Qui-Gon stood there as Darren began to stand. The TSF chief put on his jacket but did not bother to zip it up.

"Do you know where HK-50 is?", asked Qui-Gon.

"We had HK-50 power down for now. We'll clean it up and then it'll be a new member of the TSF. That droid was instrumental in the sky attack. I have yet to see the holorecords. That reminds me, before it was powered down it gave the lightsaber it was using to Lieutenant Starks who gave it to me before you and Tryex got here. Here it is", said Darren going to the closet of the room and handing the hilt to Qui-Gon. Darren started to put on his boots while Qui-Gon examined the hilt, he did not recognize it at all.

"Before we leave we should check the records on the Blue Siphon cruiser. If we check their nav-computer we should be able to see where they went before coming here", said Qui-Gon.

"With all the work ahead for Telos do you think we'll have time for that? I can get you the data but it's out of the jurisdiction of the TSF if you're talking about investigating other places", said Darren.

"I am well aware of this. However the Council would appreciate the data and if they chose to they can send me on another mission or they can let Republic Intelligence know", said Qui-Gon heading for the doorway and stopping to look back at Darren for a reply.

"Sounds good I'll let my people know when I get down to the hangar. Where are you going?", asked Darren.

"I need to speak to Crion before I leave", said Qui-Gon.

Qui-Gon found Crion in his office headquarters still as busy as before and giving Xanatos attention when he could. The attendants where there to watch the boy when Crion was distracted by calls and the other assistants where busy-bodies as well. Crion finished his call and motioned an assistant over.

"Tell anyone who calls that I am not in right now. I already wanted to spend time with my son and let these last "important" calls cut into that time. We've set up the supply relief and the TSF is spreading out to see where they can assist", said Crion and the assistant shook his head returning back to his station.

"Master Jedi, you did say you wanted to speak with me before I left and I of course have time for this. How about we go on a walk with Xanatos?", he suggested.

"That would be fine with me governor."

Crion picked up Xanatos and led Qui-Gon through the halls of the residence to a garden-like area. On the way Crion had been explaining to Xanatos that Qui-Gon was a Jedi Knight and with this fact the boy's eyes

"A Jedi might abuse their powers thinking only of that loved one rather than the duty to protect all life."

I bet you were thinking of Anakin when writing that.

    Chapter 14

"Here is the data you requested", said Darren Onasi handing Qui-Gon Jinn a datapad.

Qui-Gon scanned the data. According to the nav-computer records the Blue Siphon cruiser, which was named after the mercenary regime, traveled mostly in the Outer Rim and occasionally into Hutt Space. Recent activity showed that they were spending a lot of time in the Kwymar Sector. There had been a lot of illegal weaponry onboard and some holding cells as well.

Until something was decided about the cruiser it would stay on Telos for now. Once the situation was officially dropped from all attention the cruiser would most likely be used to benefit the TSF forces.

"Thank you Darren", said Qui-Gon turing off the datapad.

"No problem. Everything is ready by the way. Representative Tryex just boarded our escort cruiser. The Republic guys say that they're good to go. All we need now is for you to come along", said Darren.

"I'm waiting on Crion", said Qui-Gon looking at the annex entrance.

"Why? I thought the governor was staying here?", asked Darren.

"He is. It's his son who is coming with us", replied Qui-Gon now looking to Darren.

"Xanatos? What business does a three year old have with the affairs of a Jedi, politician and some security forces going to Coruscant?", he asked in bewilderment.

"I have recently discovered that Xanatos is Force sensitive. I will take him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and see if they will allow him to be trained", said Qui-Gon.

"That's Crion's only family. He agreed?"

"Yes. He knows that the Jedi can help the boy", said Qui-Gon even though he still did not like that he was seperating the two.

Just then the doors to the annex opened and Crion came holding Xanatos' hand. In Crion's other hand was a traveling case that most likely contained clothing for Xanatos. He had hoped there were no toys packed but it wouldn't be the end of everything if there were. The boy and his father made their way to Qui-Gon and Darren who stood at the bottom of the landing ramp.

"He's all ready. He has his clothes in there. I didn't pack his other things because I don't think he'll need them. They'll be better off here where I can be reminded of my son", said Crion looking to his son.

"Is this man the Jedi Ky-Gun?", asked Xanatos pointing to Qui-Gon.

"I told you not to point at people Xanatos and yes it is Qui-Gon. He is going to take you to the Jedi Temple and see if you can become a Jedi", said Crion.

"OOhhhh, I get it, when are we...going", said Xanatos after finding the word.

"As soon as you say good-bye to me Xanatos", said Crion now getting down to his son's level.

Xanatos told him good-bye and hugged him. Crion hugged him back more intensely and you could tell it was hard for him to disconnect the embrace. When he did he scratched at his eye and told Xanatos that it was time to go. The boy turned to Qui-Gon and outstretched his hand. Qui-Gon looked at Crion who gave a nod of approval and accepted the hand and then led Xanatos up to the cruiser. He heard Darren tell Crion that he would be back in no time and then the landing ramp ascended and the engines throttled up. Qui-Gon and Xanatos buckled down into seats next to each other and the ship started to lift.

Through the viewport next to Qui-Gon and Xanatos he could see the atmosphere of Telos dominating the view until finally the black of space arrived. A few seconds later and they were in hyperspace on their way to Coruscant.

As they traveled through hyperspace Qui-Gon decided to get to know the boy. He had found that Xanatos was highly intelligent and when he asked if he knew where they were going the boy answered Coruscant. Then to add to that he said that the planet was the capital of the galaxy. Not too bad, even though it was technically the capital of the Republic. There were places outside of the Republic that Qui-Gon had not even been to where there was no Republic. The most famous of these places being the Unknown Regions which everything in that area of space was unknown.

    Chapter 15

The TSF cruiser and the Republic Supply Transport landed on a designated landing platform. Qui-Gon and Xanatos looked out of a window in the cruiser at the sprawling buildings of Coruscant. Qui-Gon had been telling Xanatos about the planet and the boy was very interested. He had never seen so much in one planet and they had not even left the ship. On the landing platform Qui-Gon saw Supreme Chancellor Kalpana and a few of his aides, Finis Valorum being one of those aides that Qui-Gon knew.

Qui-Gon told Xanatos it was time to go and they walked through the cruiser to find Darren and Tyrex. Once everyone was assembled the landing ramp was lowered and they walked out to meet their greeters. Tryex and Darren were flanked by four TSF guards in the front while Qui-Gon walked with Xanatos.

On the other side of the platform the Republic crew had come out and were walking to meet up with the group. The two groups stopped in front of Qui-Gon and Xanatos to meet the Chancellor.

"Representative Tryex welcome to Coruscant. Captain Hunn, I see that you and your crew have managed to survive this catastrophy. You shall be commended for your duties in the Telos system. I am thrilled that you all are here and alive and well", said Kalpana smiling. The man was now looking to Qui-Gon.

"I am also indebted to you Master Jedi, you have helped turn the tide of what could have been a most unfortunate situation. I wanted to give you my thanks in person. Representative Tryex I understand that you have to talk with me so let us commence with our business. To my office. Master Jedi we shall stop at the Jedi Temple for your sake", said Kalpana and with that he led the Republic crew and the Telosians away from the platform to an air taxi that would take them to the Great Rotunda. Qui-Gon and Xanatos got into the air taxi next and then it left the landing platform.

More sights for Xanatos to see. Qui-Gon always saw something different on Coruscant as well and was still amazed at the environment. Xanatos pointed to buildings and ships he had never seen. Qui-Gon had remembered Crion telling the boy not to point, however he knew that Xanatos was simply excited. He thought about it longer and then they were at the Jedi Temple. He got off the taxi with Xanatos and they waved good-bye to the group.

Xanatos observed the Jedi Temple with great interest marvelling at the five spires of the great structure. Jedi were coming to and fro on the temple grounds. Qui-Gon led Xanatos into the temple up the great steps and once inside they made their way to the Jedi Council High Chamber.

The Council had been assembled and were having a meeting at the moment so Xanatos and Qui-Gon would have to wait. Xanatos must have been full of questions right now and they would be answered. Qui-Gon was not sure that he could be a good teacher or have a padawan of his own but he felt that he could help Xanatos now.

"What do you think of this place?", asked Qui-Gon.

"It's really big. Is everyone a Jedi?", he asked.

"Almost. There are some attendants. Some of them are Force sensitive but they did not complete the training so they serve the Force in another way. The life of a Jedi is not easy", said Qui-Gon.

"I want to be a Jedi", said Xanatos.

"Then you will have to become one then", said Qui-Gon.

    "When?", asked Xanatos.

"We have to see what the Council says. They are the most wise and powerful of the Jedi", said Qui-Gon.

"I want to be on the consel so I can be powerful too", said Xanatos in a very certain way.

"That will take time and training young one", said Qui-Gon.

"Then maybe I can train and get strong", said Xanatos.

"Maybe. Let's wait for the Council now", said Qui-Gon.

They waited and when the Council was finally ready they entered the High Chamber. Qui-Gon had not been here since he was last summoned to go to Telos. The masters all sat at their chairs and watched Qui-Gon, some raising an eye brow at the appearance of Xanatos. Mace Windu looked very interested in the boy as soon as he saw him.

ACK *gets out the durasteel stick of doom and wacks you over the head*

How dare you make Yoda look bad and evil! OH grrrrrrr.

Gee, poor kid. He's just three. I don't think any three year old is old enough to understand their feelings about someone killing themselves that they don't know. I'm surprised he's not scared just standing there on his own, having to face all those powerful strangers. I'd be scared and I'm twenty (then again I am rather anti social and shy)

"Why do you talk like that?", asked Xanatos.

"My way of talking it is", replied Yoda.

    "It sounds wrong", said Xanatos.

"Wrong do you say? Wrong do you know?", asked Yoda.

"What?", asked Xanatos completely confused. Yoda looked to Mace. The rest of the Council exchanged looks.

"That person who did not want to live died. How does that make you feel?", asked Sifo-Dyas.

"I don't know", said Xanatos not sure what to say now.

    "How feel you?", asked Yoda.

    "I don't know", said Xanatos.

    "Afraid are you?", asked Yoda.

"No", said Xanatos even though he did feel alone around these masters and they intimidated him.

"How sure are you?", asked Yoda.

"I'm not scared", said Xanatos angry that Yoda kept asking him questions.

"Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering", said Yoda.

"I don't like you", said Xanatos.

    "Why not?", asked Yoda.

"You don't like me", said Xanatos.

    "How?", asked Yoda.

"You called me scared", said Xanatos.

"I think that we have tested the boy enough. Let's have him wait with Qui-Gon while we deliberate on the matter", said Mace cutting into the conversation. Yoda nodded in agreement and then Qui-Gon was summoned to take charge of Xanatos.

That was intense. Way more than Anakin could have hoped to get.

    Chapter 16

The Jedi Council members sat in their traditional circle formation as they debated whether or not the three year old boy from Telos should be trained as a Jedi. So far the matter was undecided.

"Training the boy goes against all precedence", said Tor Difusal.

"If he was an infant then there would be no discussion such as this", said Thane Cerulian backing up Tor.

"I think that the boy should be trained. Can we truly deprive him of the chance to understand and harness the power of the Force?", asked Sifo-Dyas.

"An interesting point it is", said Yoda.

"He already has a relationship established with his father, it could be dangerous to his training", said Mace Windu.

"Agreed. He might long for his father forever and one day we could become the blame for that", said Kal Xenthor.

"I don't think so. He would surely know it was his father's choice. Furthermore how can we deny him this chance. The boy Xanatos is strong in the Force, you all felt it. He could sense the lifeforms outside of this room, not many his age are that sensitive, especially to their surroundings", said Sifo-Dyas.

"[I say we make the acception and allow the boy to train. If he proves incapable then he can return to Telos. There is nothing to lose from his training. It would be beneficial to us all. The boy gets the training he is alotted. We get a bright new student who has potential as a Jedi Knight with his deep connection to Force]", roared Tyvokka.

"We also gave the boy a rather extreme test. Most his age would not have answered us at all. Xanatos spoke from his heart and with feeling. I felt he did rather well considering we pressed him as a Master would an advanced student", said Sifo-Dyas.

"Master Qui-Gon did bring up the early days of our Order. Perhaps we could revert to the old ways for once", said Oppo Rancisis.

"The old ways are for the old", said Yarael Poof.

"Speaking of Master Qui-Gon. The Force tells me he feels a certain responsibilty for Xanatos. I think he will want to train him", said Saesee Tinn.

"I do not think that would be wise. We need the boy to train with his peers. We need to see how he is as a student. With Qui-Gon as his only mentor he might become attached to him after leaving his father. We need to observe the boy closely", said Ki-Adi-Mundi.

"As younglings padawans start. Already an exception we would be making. Allow the boy to be Qui-Gon's apprentice this soon we will not", said Yaddle.

"How can this discussion truly last this long. He is too old. Send him back to Telos", said Kal Xenthor.

"What do you think Master Yoda?", asked Ki-Adi-Mundi.

"Strong the boy is. Powerful he will become. Exceptions there are. Decide this boy's fate I must not. Decide this boy's fate the Council must. Come to a decision we need to", said Yoda. He was the Grand Master of the Order. He was the ranking Jedi Master on the Council and he felt that the boy had potential that exceeded many students who were already in training. However he was weary of the boy from Telos. He felt that the boy was not fully impacted by leaving his father. That was a problem for a Jedi in training. He was used to the love and support of his father, he was used to being the only one. Here he would be one of many and would be treated no differently than the others. There was no father to go to, he would have teachers but he would be taught a new lifestyle. A life of sacrifice. This made Yoda weary. However he felt that Xanatos would make an excellent student as long as he was trained properly. Yoda had trained many students in his time and nothing was impossible. Do or do not, that was his philosophy on the Force and life itself. The boy would either be an excellent student or he would not be.

"Very well, all of those in favor of sending Xanatos back to Telos say I", said Mace.

    "I", said Kal Xenthor.

    "I", said Thane Cerulian.

    "I", said Yarael Poof.

    "I", said Tor Difusal.

    "I", said Mace Windu.

There was silence in the room now and then Mace asked who was in favor of training Xanatos
