His name is John Ellis Bush: "Jeb" is an acronym like GOB from Arrested Development. Therefore it is the height of culture and elegance.

So what does everybody think of this gem Obama gave in a recent interview where he said he thought smoking Marijuana was 'no different than drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes'?

Firstly, there are more ways of consuming marijuana than just smoking it. What an idiot.

While I think McCrory is a fool for raising taxes on the middle and lower classes while the rich don't have to worry about it, one person in the comments said something that everyone in this country needs to get through their thick skulls.

LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. I've heard stories before of families using food stamps, yet they drive new cars and have cell phones and satellite dishes.

There's no need to blow money on fancy gadgets, constantly dining out, ect. You don't have to deprive yourself of such pleasures, but blowing money on them left and right is not a smart thing to do.

"Heard stories before." Where have you heard these stories before? First hand? Second hand? Are they accurately representative of poor people, or at least those on food stamps, or could they perhaps be outliers? Further, are you familiar with some recent conversation about how poor people (particularly minorities) will sometimes choose to buy expensive things for status symbol reasons, symbols that sometimes give them either more actual power in their daily interactions or the feeling of it.

KW while I disagree with the implicit judgement in Skywalker's post, I can't help but feel your response is a bit knee jerk lefty. Suggesting that people earning lower wages have problems with managing inflows and outflows and are conspicuous consumers is hardly new.

Yes, but that trouble comes partly from being overwhelmed on a daily basis with all the things that need to be taken care of. It is expensive and time consuming beyond the norm for more affluent people to be poor.

Which doesn't explain why so many have new cars (on finance or novated lease), giant plasma screen TVs and the latest iPhone with sustained debt?

The Atlantic's website had a good article explaining just that recently. I'll see if I can find it.
