In other news, I guess Paul Ryan doesn’t care if the Russians come back for 2018 (or at least as long as they’re helping to defeat the Democrats).

 

Well, as long as Russian money goes to Republican candidates, they probably won't see a problem. Like its been years since I've heard of wikileaks, whereas they were a monthly topic during 2016. Hm, wonder why (yeah, its obvious). I just hope the Democrats have seriously upgraded their cyber-security (well, that finding good candidates and a good message is really important too).

If a Democratic wave does happen (or if the Democrats even just increase their seats or get a narrow majority) I'm almost afraid that Trump and the Republicans will blame it on election meddling and declare it invalid. Trump would probably blame it on China or something (as its never Russia's fault, its always Obama's fault for letting Russia get away with something that Trump denied for years) or maybe North Korea.

I'm probably being paranoid, but with Pennsylvania Republicans probably trying to impeach their Democratic justices who cancelled out the gerrymandering (as they won't stand for a fair map), I'm not sure anything is too extreme.

I doubt he would seriously be able to invalidate the results of midterm losses. It would be fairly difficult, although it would lead to some nice Twitter tantrums.

In regards to gerrymandering, being a Pennsylvania resident, I can tell you that nothing would doom Republicans in this state more than removing the 5 Democrats who invalidated the GOP’S map. Even if they succeeded, judges in our state are elected, and the most likely outcome would be five New Democrats voted in to take their place. Also, it would pretty much guarantee the re-election of Governor Wolf, a lukewarm and not-too-popular Democrat facing an avalanche of outside Republican money.

Again, be careful what you wish for, GOP. It just might bite you in the keister.

The Normandy-like overwhelming force of the federal case against Manafort ought to scare the (insert various words here) out of Trump and some of his less clueless administration members (to the extent any exist). I think it's likely that Mueller's team is assembling a similarly intricate and powerful case against Trump and some of his associates. In Trump's case, I think it's more likely to involve various financial crimes and unethical behavior over the years than it is to be about Russia.

I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of all this, senior members of the NRA weren't indicted, or at least actively investigated in a very public-shaming sort of way. Their clout may finally be beginning to break, as money talks, and it also walks. A lot.
