No. Pence is an elected official not someone who serves at the pleasure of the president like cabinet members. Trump can theoretically find a new running mate for the 2020 election who would then need to be formally nominated.

I think the last President to nominate a new VP candidate was FDR. Lincoln was one of the other few Presidents who did that (one VP during his first term, then nominated Andrew Johnson for his second).

Now, a Vice President can resign (Agnew during Nixon's administration), and a replacement can be sworn in (Ford).

Interesting. Haven't only two ever resigned? Like Calhoun? Other vacancies were caused by deaths and lacks of replacements, since it was not an important office until, hm, Nixon made it more important. FDR didn't adequately prepare his successor, Truman, with all he needed to know, and some say he did a great job, others mixed or vile.

Heh, Pence likes being smarter than Trump. He enjoys twirling him around his finger, like when he flatters him and over-emphasizes his chin gestures. Pence disgusts me more with time. His adamant support of conservative causes, like anti-abortion and the like, are a part of his campaign to make Cheney and Bush appear subtle by comparison.

Gosh, trying to predict what these Republicans will do next is like insane chess. I don't know how you guys handle it. I'd get depressed trying.

Does anybody know how they will handle Trump's pick for CIA director? Germany wants her arrested (torture).

Also, any word if Trump will really get Bolton into the administration?

But it's true that Cambridge Analytica DID NOT COLLUDE with the Russians. THERE WAS NO COLLUSION.

Ford was the last president to switch VPs. He named Bob Dole, who would have replaced Nelson Rockefeller as VP.

Posting additional links of relevance. Highly recommend reading in order.

    Topics
    Background. Current. Whistleblower.

Referenced items: Robert/Rebekah Mercer (and by extension algorithmic trading and major billionaire Republican contributor, see Renaissance Fund). Facebook, databrokers, online privacy, psychometrics/psychographics, Trump campaign, Cruz campaign, brexit, Bannon (board member), Axciom and today's stock market performance led by high tech sell off featuring facebook in particular (after banning CA and hiring a forensics firm to investigate). FB today fell to it's 200 day moving average and the S&P500 and Dow Jones hit their 100 day moving average. All major milestones for the technical analysis-inclined market player.

I guess I've never been more satisfied with never signing up on Facebook, but now I'm worried Ramza and Vivec are going to mine my JCF posts and use my fondness for JCVD and 80s workout fashion to manipulate me.

actually @darth-sinister there's a lot of quotes from the Art of the Deal that show the manipulation and hyperbole he sells.

washington post had an article on it 3 years ago.

I've been out all day. Allegedly Trump actually congratulated Putin on his win? Not surprised.

Also, today marks 6 months since hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico. I know a bunch of people that are still without power, and all the stoplights near my apartment are still out. There's plenty of blame to spread around, from the people themselves, to local government, to the federal government. Point being, its still tough to see how this island has been transformed. It still feels like living in limbo.

    why am I not surprised....

though I'm starting to wonder if some of this isn't to distract from his pornstar/affair problems....and if that's the case...I shutter to think what he will do if there are pics/vids revealed in that 60 minute piece this sunday.

The news should just have the recurring headline "Stupid Man Does Stupid Thing." Kind of like The Onion does with every mass shooting.

To be honest that is on his advisers. They should by now that whatever you tell Trump to do, he will just do the opposite just for spite. Remember Ivanka pleaded him like crazy to not support Roy Moore and to distance himself from it. What does DJT do? He went all in on Roy Moore...three times.

    @Yoda's_Roomate

You haven't miss much. Just Karen McDougal is now suing to break her silence on Trump, footage of Stormy Daniels passing a polograph was uncovered by the Wall Street Journal, the Apprentice lawsuit moves forward as DJT more then likely will be called to a desposition (so much for his legal team's argument that the presidency shields him from such cases), Ted Olson told him the Trump legal team to hit the bricks and FBI Director Christopher Wray just admitted that he will deny the fact that he threaten to quit over pressure to fire McCabe.

So yeah it was a slow news day in Trumpworld.

Give it time it's only Tuesday. Remember Hope Hicks last day was Friday (she even switch out her phone) therefore Trump is missing what by all accounts is the little brain he had since it was Hope who had to remember EVERYTHING according to the profile in New York Magazine. He even asked if they like a person or not. Give it a few more days and I am sure he will realize she is gone for good and become unglue IE start firing people to say nothing of what will happened after Stormy Daniels let it out on "60 Minutes".

Former Playboy Model Karen McDougal Sues to Break Silence on Relationship With Trump

Karen McDougal, the former Playboy model who said she had an affair with Donald Trump, is taking a page straight out of the Stormy Daniels playbook.

According to a The New York Times report, McDougal filed a lawsuit on Tuesday to get out of her 2016 non-disclosure agreement, becoming the second woman in two weeks to filed a lawsuit accusing the president or his allies of trying to bury news about a Trump extramarital affair.

    https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/21/mitch-landrieu-2020-democrats-473648

I don’t know much about him, but he seems intriguing. The question is, will the Democratic Party be willing to consider a bald white guy as a nominee in 2020, or will intraparty squabbling that the optics of running someone who on the surface looks like more of an appeal to conservative Trump Democrats than the progressive base win out?

He seems pretty left on the issues, but will the issues matter come 2020? Kamala Harris vs Mitch Landrieu, for example, would quickly be defined as a race primary (the GOP would jump all over that), and could potentially fracture the party in a very ugly way.
