Stem cells are not murder. You have them in your wisdom teeth. Is harvesting them murder?

I'm pretty sure he meant stem cells from embryos, and he has no problem with "adult" stem cells.

If Hillary Clinton doesn't run for President in 2016 (though I think she will)... which Democrat do you think will get the nomination? And who would you want to get the nomination?

Here's the Democrats most likely to run (and actually have a shot, not be a Kucinich/Gravel/Dodd)...

    Joe Biden (VP, former Senator)

Andrew Cuomo (NY Governor, former HUD Secretary)

    Martin O'Malley (Maryland Governor)

    Brian Schweitzer (Montana Governor)

    Deval Patrick (Massachusetts Governor)

    Kirsten Gillibrand (NY Senator)

    Amy Klobuchar (Minnesota Senator)

Mark Warner (Virginia Senator, former Governor)

    Elizabeth Warren (Massachusetts Senator)

Tim Kaine (Virginia Senator, former Governor)

Interesting that Virginia, Massachusetts, and New York each have two potential nominees.

About half of them are Catholic too (also, almost all the potential GOP candidates for 2016 are Catholic).

i don't know much about most of these folks but biden = lol, o'malley strikes me as a massive tax-and-spend d-bag so no for him, mark warner is at least fiscally conservative-minded (i think - i could be totally wrong about that) so maybe, elizabeth warner no, tim kaine is too leprechaun-ish and i hate leprechauns so no for him.

Eech on Kaine. Kaine left Virginia in such a fiscal mess that I almost dread what he'd do as President. (My voting for him in the Sentatoral election was basically a lesser of two evils vote IMO). The fact that he caved to the gun lobby here in Virginia and didn't fix the loopholes in the Mental Health and Gun Show laws that he promised to do after Va. Tech, diminshed my opinion of the man even further.

Truthfully, I'd love to see Warner take a shot at the Presidency. He did a decent job as Governor and I was sorely disappointed that he opted not to take another crack at the Governor's mansion here in Virginia (Leaving crazy - pants Cuccienelli as the only real viable candidate in the race thus far)

My wish list picks from the above list:

Democrat: Biden or Warren, my favorites.

Republican: Christie or Martinez, as among the names that I'm familiar with, they are the only ones I can tolerate.

In election years, Mormons and Catholics count as Christians.

Not voting for my governor (Susana Martinez) for sure.

I miss the good ol' days when Republicans thought that since JFK was Catholic he would take orders from the pope.

I didn't say they didn't lol, of course they do! It is pretty remarkable that the entire list is from one denomination, especially the Catholic church... nobody in 1916 would have believed that!

    Why not Susana Martinez?

Seriously. Now Republicans like Santorum and Ryan think that taking orders from the Pope is a good thing.

And I won't get started on what I think of the current Pope, I'll implode the thread.

Biden is a great vice president. He'll be older than any candidate ought to be when running for the presidency. His best chance was in 1988, and he should leave it at that. He became vice president of the United States, and has accomplished a lot in the office in four years.

Gabrielle Giffords would be a major contender for the Democratic nomination if she were healthy. She was well positioned to take the reigns of the leading Democratic woman from Hillary Clinton.

Someone I know ended up doing a bad thing for which they turned themselves in, were offered (by her - she was a DA at the time) a crappy plea deal, which she broke, and then proceeded to give them a much much harsher sentence than pretty much anyone else in New Mexico ever got for a comparable crime. I don't really have any objections to her performance as governor; it's mainly because of personal distaste for her.

    What crime? Just curious.

    Congressional approval rating...

    http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/congress-approval-rating-favorability/2013/01/08/id/470566

Americans prefer lice 67 percent to 19 percent, colonoscopies 58 percent to 31 percent, Ghengis Khan 41 percent to 37 percent, cockroaches 45 percent to 43 percent, traffic jams 56 percent to 34 percent, and Nickelback 39 percent to 32 percent.

Congress didn’t lose to everything that PPP threw at respondents. Legislators beat out Lindsey Lohan 45 percent to 41 percent, telemarketers 45 percent to 35 percent, Fidel Castro 54 percent to 32 percent, and gonorrhea 53 percent to 28 percent.
