I don't know if this was mentioned before - in Survivor's Quest, the Chiss tell Luke and Mara that the Vagaari might have found allies even mightier and more dangerous out there in the Unknown Regions. We know that the Yuuzhan Vong had already sent forces to the GFFA before they appeared there in full force - and now think of the strange biotech the Vagaari used (those bees and their trained wolvkils etc.). To me, that looks like the two species have had contact before. If you now consider that the Chiss were hurrying to make their last refuge, the Redoubt, as safe as possible (since the last fifty years - about the time the YV appeared at Zonama Sekot!), it looks more and more like the YV were already quite active years before they attacked the New Republic - and the Chiss knew about it!!

    Thoughts??

Doubt it. I'd say it was a native Unknown Regions force rather than the Vong.

Survivor's Quest certainely implied that it was the Vong working in the UR. We don't know for sure though...

    That's what you'd think, isn't it? [face_mischief]

But Sue Rostoni from LFL has said over at the sw.com forums that it wasn't...

The Vagaari were after droids. Vong hate droids.

"The Vagaari were after droids. Vong hate droids."

Which is not to say that they didn't make contact, and perhaps even an allegiance (an advanced force may well have let their anti-conventional tech bias slide for the sake of gathering intel etc about the GFFA). Csillan_girl wasn't suggesting that 'Vagaari=Yuuzhan Vong'.

I think that it was the Vong

Remember Thracken in Ylesia, he used droids, just not in front of the Vong.
