Challenge The Victorian Quote Roulette - all quotes are taken, now the prose is making its way hither!

Grab you bonnets and top hats, ladies and gentleman, for you have just clicked on the Victorian Quote Roulette!

On this most auspicious day I am pleased to bid you welcome as we start this test of skill and fortitude. Before you, in all its regal splendor, lies my challenge to you:

Whilst searching for inspiration amongst the vast laurels of literature at my fingertips, I comprised a list of quotes from the most talented and revered masters of Victorian lore. Within the numbered depths below lie the passionate words of the Brontë's, the quick wit of Miss Jane Austen and Mr. Oscar Wilde, the elegant prose of George Elliot and Elizabeth Gaskell. Here Charles Dickens' immortalized words lie betwixt those of Thomas Hardy and the eerily Gothic tomes of Stoker and Shelly and Stevenson . . . and those are just a sampling of the great minds waiting to inspire you.

If you decided to partake in this roulette, here is all you must do: Pick your number. Any number, and I shall PM the quote you choose to you within 24 hours. Once you receive your quote, you pen your story, and post the link here so that the rest of your contemporaries may bask in the glories of your creation and commend you accordingly.

As there are sixty-five slots, there are more than enough to go around. Persons who wish for a second quote may do so upon assurance that everyone wishing to participate has received a first quote.

I have done my best to provide a variety of quotes, but seeing as how many of the works that the quotes are taken from are romances, and even Gothic in nature, you never know what you are going to get.
