This was posted in the JC by The_Anakin_Wannabe a fellow South Aussie who 'lurks' here lots.....comeout Anakin and take credit for your work!!!!

These questions about Australia were posted on an Australian Tourism
Website and obviously the answers came from fellow Aussies ... just trying
    to help:

    1. Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia? I have never seen it rain on
TV, so how do the plants grow? (UK)

A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them
    die.

    2. Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? (USA)

A: Depends how much you've been drinking.

    3. Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney - can I follow the railroad
    tracks? (Sweden)

A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles, take lots of water...

    4. Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia? Can you send me a
list of them in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Hervey Bay (UK)

A: What did your last slave die of?

    5. Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Australia?

    (USA)

A: A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe
Aus-tra-lia is that big island in the middle of the pacific which does not.. oh forget it. Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in Kings Cross. Come naked.

    6. Q: Which direction is North in Australia? (USA)

A: Face south and then turn 90 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we Ill send the rest of the directions.

    7. Q: Can I bring cutlery into Australia? (UK)

A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.

    8. Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? (USA)

A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is..
oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in
Kings Cross, straight after the hippo races. Come naked.

    9. Q: Do you have perfume in Australia? (France)

    A: No, WE don't stink.

    10. Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth.

Can you tell me where I can sell it in Australia? (USA)

A: Anywhere significant numbers of Americans gather.

    11. Q: Can I wear high heels in Australia? (UK)

A: You are a British politician, right?

    12. Q: Can you tell me the regions in Tasmania where the female population
is smaller than the male population? (Italy)

    A: Yes, gay nightclubs.

    13. Q: Do you celebrate Christmas in Australia? (France)

    A: Only at Christmas.

    14. Q: Are there killer bees in Australia? (Germany)

A: Not yet, but for you, we'll import them.

    15. Q: Are there supermarkets in Sydney and is milk available all year
    round? (Germany)

A: No, we are a peaceful civilisation of vegan hunter gatherers. Milk is illegal.

    16. Q: Please send a list of all doctors in Australia who can dispense
    rattlesnake serum. (USA)

A: Rattlesnakes live in A-meri-ca which is where YOU come from. All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets.

    17. Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It's a kind of bear and lives in trees.(USA)

A: It's called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking.

    18. Q: I was in Australia in 1969 on R+R, and I want to contact the girl
I dated while I was staying in Kings Cross. Can you help? (USA)

A: Yes, and you will still have to pay her by the hour.

    19. Q: Will I be able to speek English most places I go? (USA)

A: Yes, but you'll have to learn it firs

very efficient, untill the cops start chasing you - they've got the new model K.I. Roo's now.......three or four bounds, and the have you.....not like the old Euro's

thinking of getting an imported model....i hear those Cassowary's have a lot more leg than the Emu's

my first one was a Wombat.....old, slow, and smelled of something 'not-quite-right-in-the-digestive-system'.......somedays it wouldnt even start....

so, the Farrari's have a horse, Lamborghini have their bull,....why do Holden have a silly looking lion?......SHOULD have been a Roo!

...i could go on all night....but i wont bore you all - someone once told me a bannana was a fruit......but i proved to them it was not only a fruit, but a vegetable, a spice AND a herb, all at once.......and now some of you are wondering what a Euro is, if not money.... ;)

    i'm just silly!

off to get some tea before the daylight goes....my Emu wont start at night.... nite!

My apologies for the ignorance of my fellow Americans, of whom a large percentage cannot name which hemisphere America is in to begin with.

I do have a question, though. Do you all have to stand on your heads every once in a while to get the blood back to your feet? You know, being upside-down on the bottom of the planet and all...

    :p

Shara, thank you. I would find that both confusing and exceptionally difficult to emulate. :D

Brun-Farron, WHAT?! The water there flows out of the drain into the tap?! Wow. I'd like to see that! [face_laugh]

evil, not all. Sadly, though, I do have to worry about that. Especially livng in a city where Concealed Carry has been legalized for those licensed. Yes, I plan on looking like Jesse James on a bender soon, bandeleros, duster and all.

And Addie, that's why ya loves me! :p

I'll have to get a copy of the book 'America' for you all and scan the pages about Australia. Jon Stewart did the book as a comedy relief of what Americans think and how we view the world. There's a page on how many Fosters it takes to do certain things. I think it stated it takes 200 Fosters before Vegimite becomes palatable. :p Have a good one!

From memory, only Americans find Vegemite un-palatable.

Not true about Vegemite, my Father and three of my half-sister's are from America and they adore the stuff. So do my cousins, I guess we're pretty weird.

I wonder if American's know that we have running water and electricity yet? :D

Best part about having America relatives? Bush walking! Especially all the tales about how ninety-eight percent of all poisonous snakes and spiders live here. And the tales about the good ol' hoop snake, everytime we came to a hill they we're looking around wildly, just in case a snake with his tail in his mouth came tumbling down. [face_laugh]

Someone should come up with a new myth, I'd love to tease tourists about it. :D

i hate Vegimite....tastes too much like yeast....like a beer thats too long in the sun....just not right

its broken, i tell you!....hope they kept the reciept, cos, it needs to be took back!

me, i preffer Promite....much nicer...all Americans should try it too

Hoop Snakes and Drop Bears, huh......they're not so scarey - if you know what to do...

    Australia Survival 3.1

Hoopsnake - if it seems that it has almost got you, point to its tail and yell "there's your head!".....keep running. it will take the average Hoopsnake around 25 minutes to un-swollow it'self.....

Drop Bears - as we ALL know, they are hard to detect, unless it's mating season (the screech often cant be contained), but obviously staying out of Pine forests at night is the easiest way to avoid them.
if you find that you have no choise but to pass through a pine forest, then take a face mask......we all know they only like to attack when you arent watching the tree tops, but we cant do that and walk striaght at the same time! wear the face mask with it pointing to the sky....they'll think you have seen them, and hesitate long enough that a steady pace will take you out of the danger zone....

thats all i have to say about that...mmmhhuuh
