I've always viewed the gauntlet as an old episode of the twilight zone.

Too much stuff for it not to be amusing.

 

And now I get to wait until this whole thing starts.

*Plays poker with a nearby Ewok*

 

It's always fun to see another wannabe janson bite the dust when the gauntlet comes crashing down!

 

*Taps foot* No. First you have to role play putting on the hideous awful dress and high heels.

 

*Reverts to five-year old self*

Internal Monologue of a Gauntlet Challenger

There are times where I wonder: WWWJD. What Would Wes Janson Do? I mean, this is his fan club and all . . . and I like the Ewoks, the shenanigans, the people, the lake . . . but one thing remains. The Gauntlet. I don't know what to expect from this thing, so my initial thought to all of this can be summed up as such.

Needless to say, when I fist heard about the rite of passage, I was rather unsure of what to do.

So here I am, staring down this ugly dress and high heels which I am being forced to wear for my trip through the Gauntlet. This goes against my sanity, and everything I've ever worked for, but if I must to be a true Minister of the WJFC, then I must. If I succeed, I jump on the bed as a half-crazed newbie initiate. If I fail, then the Ewoks beat me to a pulp. Actually, they probably will either way, so getting life insurance might be a good idea at this juncture . . .

OK, where was I? Oh yes, lowering my dignity. There's a saying that you need to sometimes forego your ego and just get something done. I think now is one of those times. If I walk away, I'm a failure. But if I succeed, then I gain the high position that waits for me at the end.

So I slip on the ugly dress, no matter how ugly it is. It smells like soap . . . I guess it could be worse. At least it shows off my toned physique nicely. There's a reason why guys don't normally wear dresses . . . but I have no choice. The high heels are next. They seem like they are murdering my feet already. I wonder how someone can wear these for hours on end . . . but I instantly feel two inches taller, so I guess it could be worse. Just jammed my toe into the binding on the end; that doesn't feel so nice.

It's go time.

*Starts spraying silly string, lobbing jello-filled water balloons and blaring a horn*

*Gets stuck in suspended animation*

 

*Releases the ewoks and they give a battle cry, shaking sharp pointy spears. The horde of ewoks mill around until Swan gives them all pixi stix at which point they go into a frenzy and start chasing Gunny* Run Gunny, run!

 

*Pours marshmallow gu under Gunny's heels so he is stuck*

 

*Eats marshmallow goop* Mmm . . .

*Keeps running*

 

*grins maliciously and plans future mischief *
