Yub yub, Aaron Allston. You will be sorely missed.

 

Aaron Allston was my favorite Star Wars author. Not just because he brought life and personality to our favorite character and created dozens of others, and not just because he's the main reason I became friends with so many of you, but because he told stories that taught us not to take ourselves too seriously. To bounce back from loss and mistakes, even when it seems impossible. To be bold and scrappy. To be honest with ourselves. To have faith in our friends. Like most of you, I read his books when I was a typical nerdy, isolated teenager and living through his characters helped to form my own character.

Thanks, Mr. Allston. You'll always be our real-life Wes Janson.

 

RIP, Mr. Allston. Without you, this club would not exist, and many good friendships would not have been made.

 

It's been ages since I've even signed in here. But I had to come back to comment on the sad loss of the man who brought us all together. He gave us the silliness that made such a difference in our lives. And people I still keep in touch with after more than a decade, which might as well be forever in internet terms.

 

I know Mr Allston wouldn't want this thread to be sad for long. When our beloved pilots passed in his books Wedge and Wes always found a way to boost morale. So Orange Crush Cupcakes for Everyone:
