Yeah, NZ also gets that edited version due to "licensing issues" even though we have a perfectly adequate R18 rating. Screw that, see my solution above.

Just finished the first game this afternoon. Pretty good. Now, with a bit of luck, the second one will be available for pre-loading tomorrow. Save importing, here I come.

The pre-download is exclusive to GOG I think, and just over 7 hours till it unlocks!

Oh well. At least that explains it. Guess I'll just have to wait a few more days before I can play, then.

This is easily one of the best looking games I've ever seen. The graphics, the art style, the lighting, the character models... it's just superb. Thankfully my computer is just on the right side of being able to run it. It handles high settings at about 25-30fps, which is good enough.

Everything about the game just oozes 13th century (apart from the abundance of plate mail), I'm loving every minute of it.

I miss my gaming PC :(

I'll pick this up eventually though. How's the gameplay compared to the first one?

Combat is so much better than the first. I think it's taken some inspiration from Demon's Souls with blocking and rolling, and it almost feels like Batman Arkham Asylum when you chain attacks and instantly roll or leap to the next opponent. The inventory is slightly cleaned up but feels mostly the same. Same with the potions and spells.

About a third of the way through downloading on Steam. With a bit of luck, I'll actually get to this today.

Now, I'm going to disappear before the spoilers start showing up. Will return...when I'm done with the game. :p

Had a quick look inside the box and I'm really impressed with everything in it so far. The art book is a proper hardback A4 sized book in full colour, the coin has a lot of detail and a good weight to it, and the whole thing is really nice. I'll do a proper unboxing type thing tomorrow, but for now I'll just say that it was totally worth getting.

I'm looking forward to playing this. Pretty much everything I've heard of the game matches the above.

So, how does this compare to Dragon Age 2? :p

I need a new computer to play though. My poor laptop would die trying to render Geralt's wrinkles.

Far better, I'd say. Pulls off much of what DA2 attempted and then improves upon it further.

It's a much richer game. I'm still in chapter 1 but feel like I've seen and done more than the entire span of DA2.

Good god this pisses me off.

Anyone remember the scandal regarding the Bioware Employee rating Dragon Age 2 a 10/10 on Metacritic to offset the rating bomb? Well, now he's apparently attacking The Witcher, calling it "misogynistic".

    Somebody fire this ass please.

I can't decide whether to laugh, cry, or just roll my eyes. I like the fact that he admits that he works for bioware, which makes it obvious as to where his loyalties lie. Even if it's not that, everyone will be thinking it and dismissing his review entirely. If I was in charge at BioWare he would be gone faster than you can say 'you're fired'.

Just got to chapter 2 and WOW, what an intro. I love how it gives you direct control of characters during scenes that Geralt isn't involved with. It really makes it feel like an epic movie with important events happening in multiple locations.

And I love Roche. He's a no-nonsense man of action, has a great voice actor and has an awesome outfit. I'm sure he's just waiting to stab me in the back though, we shall see.

    And curse this tattoo. :(

I did, but she just listed some ingredients. Is there a quest or something that tells me what I need? Cause I forgot what it was. :p
