[face_laugh] Johnnie Farnham does it again!

Born in Dagenham, Essex, England (on the outer north-eastern suburbs of London), Farnham spent the first years of his life there before migrating to Australia in 1959. An undistinguished student, he began a plumbing apprenticeship before taking leave from that to pursue music.

His first commercially-successful recording was a novelty song entitled "Sadie the Cleaning Lady", in 1968, which sold 180 000 copies in Australia, the largest-selling single by an Australian artist of the decade. The clean-cut pop star made several more successful albums, but by the 1970s his recording career began to dwindle and he turned to television, appearing in a situation comedy and narrating documentaries, whilst singing in clubs. He also performed in a number of musicals and in the Australian television comedy series Bobby Dazzler as the leading character of the same name. His one recording hit in this period was a reworking of the Beatles' "Help!" in 1980.

Of course these days he bums around producing half-a*sed songs living off the small amount of fame he got from the 70's-80's

Personally, if you think about the 'Sadie the Cleaning Lady' style of music, it was quite out of touch with the rest of the world, and the only reason it was a success here was because of the isolation (seriously, or everyone was on drugs or something). Anywhere in the world it would have flopped like a pancake.

But that's just my opinion. *cough* we now return you to your regular programming..

*jawa slams his fist on the bar* Gimmie a drink already!

John Farnham is Australia's Rod Stewart, just as Daryl Somers is Australia's William Shatner...

I have loved John Farnham for as long as I can remember - and we're going back as I can remember! [face_love]

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/06/John_Farnham.jpg]

And he does a mean version of "We Will Rock You". My fave singer covers one of my fave songs from my fave band!

but he doesn't "ROCK" he may as well have sung "We will we will POP you"

It's like Britney Spears doing a cover of "I love rock and roll" even though is is the scourge of Rock Music everywhere.

Thank you all but none of this helps.
I have still NEVER heard of the man.
And anyone covering We will rock you had better do a go job or they will burn in hell.

Well, Brian May and Roger Taylor were that impressed with Jack's version of We Will Rock You, that they played the guitar and drums respectively for the track.

And anyhoo, Jack is my fave and that is my choice.

    I hate cover versions.
There are very few that do the originals justice.

A bit like an english boy band called "Five" who covered "We will rock you" it was crap. (And Brian May and Roger Taylor played on that too). I think they are desperately trying to cling on to a band that died the moment Freddie did.
They should have left with some dignity IMO.

*Gets One Voice CD and puts it in the CD player. Presses play and starts to sing*

See her at the market place
Where she comes from nobody knows
    Now that you ask me
I guess I like the way she wears her clothes
The way she smiles at him
His heart just swells and grows and grow
You think I'm telling you fairytales

    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
    The look in her eyes
    They're a little bity hazy
Paradise coming to a sweet little lady
Don't you know it's magic, baby
    Ah baby it's magic
Magic carpet ride for a woman in love

Take a gun and shoot your friend
As long as you take your turn
When you're only six years old
You own the world, you got friends to burn
If you want to be an Indian cheif
Or a sherriff, respect you got to earn
    Fairytales, got to learn

    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
See a little boy standing there
With a bow in his hand and a feather in his hair
    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
Magic carpet ride for a little boy's dreams

When your dealing with your brother man to man
And you need a helping hand, yeah baby
    All you've got to do
    Is take a positive view
    Oh you know you can
    Believe you can, baby

    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
Take a hand of your brother and do what's best
You get a whole lot of lovin'
    Lot of happiness
    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
Magic carpet ride for you and me

    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
Take a hand of your brother and do what's best
You get a whole lot of lovin'
    Lot of happiness
    Don't you know it's magic
    Ah baby it's magic
Magic carpet ride for you and me

    I [face_love] that song!

Farnham has one voice, but the Volcanics have two!

yay! I went and saw them last night with Ivo @ ze Amplifier. They kicked ass and undermined John Farnham in one fell swoop!

    beautiful!

Who? Never 'eard of 'em. Don't think I want to.

And of course Jack has one voice. Geez, If I was born with two, I'd be makin' big bucks and not living here!

I must raid dad's CD collection. I bet I can find some beauties in there. I don't like majority of this rubbish music (ie other than Jack) played today. I think I was born too late....

    *Starts to sing*

    Born too late
    For you to notice me
To you, I'm just a kid that you won't take
Why was I born too late?

    Born too late
To have a chance to win your love
Oh why, oh why was it my fate
    To be born too late?

I see you walk with another
I wish it could be me
I long to hold you and kiss you
But I know it never can be, for I was

    Born too late
To have a chance to win your love
Oh why, oh why was it my fate
    To be born too late?

I see you walk with another
I wish it could be me
I long to hold you and kiss you
But I know it never can be, for I was

    (key change)
    Born too late
    For you to care now
My heart cries because your love just couldn't wait
Why was I born too late?
Why was I born too late?
