Mario Kart for the Wii is coming out pretty soon. So what are everyone's thoughts on this. I already have it pre-ordered at Gamestop.

Can't wait. Nintendo has done no wrong with this franchise, I see no reason for them to start now.

For a game that's suppose to be released in 1.5 months there's not much info about it.

    Mario Kart Text Chat Details.

    (from IGN)

February 27, 2008 - Nintendo fans still hoping that the arrival of Mario Kart Wii will herald the beginning of voice chat support on the company's home console will have to put those hopes on hold for a while. The publisher's European subsidiary confirmed in an official Mario Kart Wii posting that players will only be able to communicate with each other via text chat, and not during matches.

"You can create rooms for friends to join and even text chat while you're waiting for other racers," Nintendo of Europe revealed.

    Update

In our original article, we speculated that players might be able to use a USB keyboard or at the very least the Wii remote to enter customized text messages. Not so, according to a rep for Nintendo of America, who contacted us today to clarify. Apparently, gamers will only be able to select from a pre-determined number of phrases that can be sent along as rudimentary texts before matches. Nintendo is clearly playing it safe.

What does everyone else think about this?

I'm not really that concerned with being able to chat with people online while playing, I used to always mute my headset when playing online with the PS2.

I am looking forward to the game though as I haven't played a Mario Kart since the SNES & I played that game to death.

Boo hoo go play XBOX and get 10 year olds screaming/texting obscenities at you if "chatting" is so important.

I never play online anyway so it bothers me none.

Is there a trailer on the net somewhere? I'm a big fan of Mario Kart, dating back to the original for Super Nintendo.

If you don't go out and buy the special steering wheel, how is the normal controller gonna handle that? Using the direction bad would be kinda lame...

There will be multiple controller settings so the game will know which method (wheel;, wiimote or GCN) you're using.

The wheel (above) comes with the game as long as you get the initial release. I do not know how many that is, but I already have it reserved at Gamestop.

Mario Kart for the Wii at Game Stop comes with one wheel for $49.99.

I highly doubt it will come out in April. I predict it will be pushed back.

Not just the Brits, but I'm not sure why getting Mario Kart two weeks earlier then the Americans is considered a bragging right while there's still no EU release date for Brawl. :)
