There's never been a time when people DIDN'T think George was crazy!

Watching the Empire of Dreams documentary I realized that people always thought George was weird and crazy. Back then when they were making the first Star Wars, studio executives, the actors, the crew, and his friends thought he was crazy for the things he was putting in the movie. Now it's the fans who think he's a little off.

Not so much crazy as questioning his business judgement. And that has been open to question at times...
like in the late Eighties when he produced a long string of bombs like "Howard the Duck" and "Tucker"(IMHO Tucker was a very good movie but a box office disaster) that led Lucasfilms to the brink of disaster, saved only by the huge sucess of "The Last Crusade" and severe economy measures (One of which, the selling off of Pixar, Lucas freely admits he regrets).

As this seems to be discussing the making of SW and Empire of Dreams, I suggest the CT forum in one of the Empire of Dreams threads.

    Rick McCallum loves you!
