what did you guys think of Reign Of Fire, special effects, plot, characters, etc...

I thought the effects kicked ass but the plot was kinda dull and boring... anyone know how to do any of the effects in the movie?

Do the FX, with a lot of care and patience ;-). Seriously, it's gonna be discussed in about 10 days, should be interesting. Too bad it's the next to last film for TSL.

effects are good except the could have done a better job on the fire... the dragons look kicked ass... and they even make fun of star wars... just for that I thought it was worth it....

I wouldnt say they made fun of Star Wars. Maybe the film makers did, but in terms of the storyline....it was a way to keep Star Wars alive in the post-apocalyptic world.

Not a bad film at all. The dragon fx were very good.

If you don't think a lot about the inner-turnings of the plot, it's a pretty damn enjoyable flick. FX were top-notch in my opinion.

well if you think of the star wars part in the view point of the writer and producers and such it is kinda funny... but who cares. it was pretty bad ass!

I saw it last night and thought the star wars scene was funny (in fact if they got a screen grab of part of that scene and added a caption to it, the caption should go something like this "Even in a post apocalyptic world, star wars fanfilm makers still struggle with making a fanfilm")

Other than that, I thought the story was intersting, the characters were good, and most of the effects were believable. All in all, I felt it was well worth the price of the movie ticket, and I'll probably go see it again when it hits the local cheap seats theatre. Maybe even twice there, one time being on dollar tuesdays :)

From what I heard from the gang at Disney who did the spfx, the story is ... and I quote ... "bad on so many levels ..."

    But I shall reserve judgement.

Well, James, the gang at Disney is full of it :) The story is quite well played out and fairly good - the thin plot points here and there are made up for quite well in the character department. I thought the pacing in act 3 was a little rushed, but it was effective and enjoyable, and a surprisingly good movie.

Heck, I thought of a plot like that, albeit a bit better, in 7th grade.

It was an enjoyable movie and the FX were great. Can't say its the best movie ever or even a decent movie, but I was enjoyable.

    URG...Worst movie ever!
Can somebody say, "Gaping plot holes"?
I think the proper title should've been,
"Battlefield Earth 2 - Reign of Fire"...

This was a movie which I walked into with no reservations about it being amazingly great, Oscar winning material. I went in expecting entertainment, and I got it. Van Zant was just a snarling beast who never stopped growling, and this made me happy on so many levels. I laughed my keister off at the Star Wars scene, especially when the small child yells out "The Lion King!" That, and Christian Bale, and his uber-thick accent, was quite cool. Maybe he would make a good Batman...

My only qualm with the movie was a bit of logic in Van Zant's plan. He says kill the male, kill the species. Good plan, except all you're doing is stopping the reproduction. There are still 3MILLION DRAGONS LEFT!!! Sure, they could starve or blah blah blah. Point is, I liked the movie, and the plot holes and gratuitous stuff (like the scene where Bale looks at the dragon egg - useless) didn't take away from my over all movie experience. Entertainment wise, this is on par with "End Of Days" and the more recent, and hilarious, "Eight Legged Freaks."

My Score: 8/10, losing points for not casting Christopher Walken or any of the Country Bears. Thank you.

    Peace Out,

    Mark "The Admiral" Rosenthal

I have a question about this movie: These people are starving, right? Why don't they just kill and eat the occasional dragon. I mean, there must be thousands of pounds of meat on those things. Why let them go to waste? Dragon burgers, dragon dogs, left over dragon sandwiches, dragon ka bobs, dragon gyros, fried dragon and collard greens, stuff like that. By the way, my Bubba-esque rant is now over.

    Peace Out,

    Mark

A Pete's Dragon song comes to mind...

    Dr. Terminus
    Dragon whiskers, dragon toes
a dragon tooth and a dragon nose
    Every little piece
    Every little piece
    We could make a million
    by slicing him, dicing him

Hoagy, we could sell every little shell
There's enough of him to go around
    Money, money, money
    by the pound
    Every little piece
    Every little piece

    I can take a scissor
and clip him up, rip him up
Every little part is a work of art
Think of what a dragon heart would bring
Wrapped up in a ribbon and a string

    Both
Dragon liver can cure a cold
    dragon powder grows hair
With dragon blood you'll never grow old

    Dr. Terminus

    you're the key
Every little shred moving me ahead
Every dream of mine will be fulfilled
What a dragon business we can build

I'll buy him up, tie him up
    Drag him from the cave
    show him that I'm brave
