Many of the things I don't give a **** about are not things I have ever TRIED to give a **** about. Two things I have gone out of my way to try and like but just can't are: The Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin. I realize their important roles in music history and culture, and I have really REALLY tried to appreciate them...but I just can't. Don't know why, but I just don't like them.

There are lots of TV shows I haven't cared to start to watch partly because I'm sick of seeing them referenced (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead), so I haven't tried to give a crap about them in the first place.

 

I can't give **** about people that don't give a **** about quality TV such as Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.

 

But have you tried to?

 

Trying is really the catalyst here. When effort is put into not giving a **** it really hammers home the idea of what society's fascination with a particular phenomenon really is. I mean...you can hate something or not care about it and even go so far as to tell the world about your hatred or apathy via the magic of the intarwebs, but the key here is effort. I think think this thread ought to be more about trying to give whatever current fad that's pissing everybody off a chance...and then failing.

Am I wrong? I could be. I've been drinking.

 

I've tried to care about football in the past, even managing to make it halfway through a Super Bowl on TV...but I just don't get it. A comedian once described it as "a ton of 400-pound guys crushing each other to death over a pigskin, when they can all afford to buy their own." I'd tend to agree.
