JCC Things We Used To Do and Miss Doing Now

Share something you used to do that brought you joy, but, for some reason you don't do anymore.

 

Football (soccer). Stopped playing due to knee injury

Mountain Biking (Competitively) again stopped due to same injury

 

Rock climbing and bowling. My toe issues now prevent those activities.

 

Flying. Whether it's the pilot's seat in a light plane or the flight engineer seat in a C-130, I miss it a lot.

 

Baking.

Really miss the catering industry; one of the rare occasions I was at peace with myself.

 

I used to sing Wild Wild West with Rogue Number Ten and Lord of Vivec.

 

I've never owned an automatic. And I would buy a front-wheel-drive hybrid-powered Mustang before I swapped out my 6-speed stick.

 

Slamming the phone to demonstrate my displeasure with the caller.

Random discoveries. With the internet and smartphones, you can Google anything the second you wonder about it. Before, a question would enter your mind, you would ask whoever was next to you if they knew it, and they usually wouldn't. And you would just forget about it until monhs later, by chance, you would happen upon the information and go "ohhhhhh, it was Sophia Loren, that's right! Remember I was wondering about that?", and whoever was next to you would go "no...?"

 

Vivec how come instead of liking the post you don't just get online for once and have Will Smith warmed up?

Sarge I used to do SCA fencing too--it was awesome. I don't do it anymore for a variety of reasons. Are you from Caid, or is that just where the video is from?

 

Most of my SCA play time was in Gleann Abhann, when it was a principality of Meridies and then when we became our own kingdom. When I moved from there I was awarded a scroll from King Jon the Tall naming me a Citizen of GA. I'm in the East right now.

Fencing on a big seesaw was a blast, and makes you very aware of your footwork.

I'm in the Middle. I'd say I was looking forward to meeting you in battle at Pennsic, but I don't go anymore. I only made it to Pennsic once, I think it was XXIX in 99. That was before I authorized in fencing, so I fought heavy. The field battle was unforgettable. A thousand in each army, charging across the field, and the impact in the center was incredible. I can still hear the crunch when the shieldwalls met. Good times...

Sleeping past 7AM.

 

Being able to watch the Dodgers on television.
