I just thought this while watching A New Hope on tuesday that if Han Solo decided to just take his reward and get the hell out of there without returning the following would have happened:

*No one would have been there to save Luke. Darth Vader would have eliminated him with no trouble.

*The rest of the rebel fighters would have been destroyed and the attack fails.

*The Death Star destroys Yavin 4, wiping out the Rebel Alliance.

*The Empire rules the galaxy with tyranny and oppression. Millions suffer and die as a result.

As for Han Solo, he get's away with the cash, but how long is it since he is captured by Bounty Hunters and brought to Jabba the Hutt? And there is no one to rescue him so he get's fed to the Sarlacc.

Moral: There are things more important than money.

And never piss off a Wookie :p

Yes, but it was Vader chasing after Skywalker that led to Solo being captured. If Luke was dead, Vader wouldn't have been interested in catching Solo.

Han still had a bounty on his from Jabba regardless of whether or not Vader was interested.
    Nyder's theory still holds up.

Oh, and I learnt that children and small furry creatures with limited communication skills will aways save the day in the end regardless of overwhelming military might.

Look out Saddam, we have the Koala!

I have learnt that one CAN wear a seethrough white dress without a bra and get away with it, as long as your hairstyle is sufficient to distract away attention.

Since this appears to be a thread based on ANH..
I've learnt that in order the destroy an enemies' base, you must first traverse a long, blaster-filled canyon in order to deploy torpedoes down a shaft, rather than a direct 'dive bomb' run at the hole from above.
    ;)

It was Ray-Shielded so apparently a top-down bombardment wouldn't work. The trench was a means of getting beneath the shield.

And you call yourself a Star Wars fan, Gooba... Sheesh. :p :D

...a fan, yes. Avid, no, not entirely.
Don't hang me for that. I love the republic, er, Star Wars.

Nyder seems to be forgetting that Han's reward was - as he said after Ben struck the deal - 'Seventeen thousand! Those guys must really be desperate. This could really save my neck'. He then went on to clarify this in the special edition when he told Jabba 'but I've got a charter now and I can pay you back, plus a little
extra'. So I always assumed that was where he was headed with his reward.

That said, Han had nothing to lose by the destruction of the rebel alliance.

Again you show that you have no understanding of the concept of inner-monologue, JP. :p

For what it's worth, on my web site there is a little section called "Everything I learned in life I learned from Star Wars."

Follow the link in the signature then go to the Daggy Bits section, you'll find it there.
