I'd much prefer a "week in the life of Han Solo" type adventure rather than an all-inclusive origin story; I don't necessarily want to see him meeting Chewie for the first time, or winning the Falcon, or anything like that. Lando would be OK if the movie is set several years before ANH.

What I would like to see
    Greedo
    Jabba
    Maz Kanata
    more Wookiees
    Kashyyyk
    Corellia
a new planet other than Corellia
    a fabulous casino
    lots of Huttese dialog
an on-screen band playing some interesting source music
Han taking out a Harryhausen-esque beast with only his wits and a blaster
    Lumpy and/or Malla
    Michelle Dockery

I definitely don't want this to turn into nothing but an origin story but I do want to see how he first met Chewie. That's one of the most important relationships in his life so it'd be great to see how it began.

Well I'm not entirely opposed to it. It just seems to me an event that momentous might dominate the movie. But if that means we also get more Kashyyyk, or even Chewie's family, I could be persuaded to get on board. ;)

How does taking characters that first appeared in the Holiday Special and using them as serious characters in a genuine SW feature film (one not written by Bruce Vilanch) equal canonizing or even endorsing the HS? I just don't get it. Call it character rehabilitation if you like. I'm certainly not asking for another variety show.
Now I want Saun Dann in the Han movie too.

If Han gets three films, Lumpy should get three films.

I agree with every one of those (Maz Kanata in the Han anthology could provide some needed backstory for her character too) but above all, I could really, really go for Corellia on film. I've wanted that for a long time. Corellia has featured so prominently in EU material, it only makes sense given it's Han's homeworld.

I also like the notion of a big old casino scene. Kind of James Bond-esque, actually. Come to think of it, I'd like to think if that were to happen, I'd like Lando to be involved too somehow.

A single superhero origin story that checks off thirty two and one-half boxes and devotes 5 minutes to each significant movement is what I fear and expect from Disney. They have bitten the JJ Abrams apple of screaming running while on fire. What I'd prefer is a Han Solo trilogy that treats the audience to a bit of moment, every moment, each time, every movie. They already did a TFA. People are consuming Star Wars a little bit more now, maybe. They can do something with some grandeur like ESB. A Han Solo movie does not have to be seizure. It *can be epic.

With a completely fresh slate, they could have a first movie whose major bro moment is Han and Chewy going through a duration of consequence and then after the implications of matter have been proposed and processed do they agree that they *might, tentatively, make a good team. They use something smuggler-sized, pirate-sized, that is of course not the MF but is reminiscent of the kind of ship that we bet a young Han Solo would gravitate towards, which naturally should bear some 'sense' of the later MF, i.e., it should give rise to what Solo finally loves about the MF once he gets it. It's not home, it's not a source of pride, it's got it where it counts. It does maneuvers.

Second movie, same sort of thing with new guy Lando. They meet both Lando and the Falcon, something of matter and moment occurs, in a staid and responsible frivolity. The famous game occurs and we see what Han is willing to risk, and what greater matter was at stake that stands behind this game. (How much was Han in the hole this time?) And in his poker face way, Han pretends to not really want the MF but gets Lando to bet against him as a sure thing. And it looks bad for Solo, really bad, and he actually sweats. And then lady luck favors him, and lady luck has been on record many times doing so. Their final action is against some party that is perhaps from Lando's origin side of the equation, and does not necessarily click in with *any revealed canon or OT settings. Maybe Lando drops some jokes about wanting to settle down some day.

Third movie, - if all the king's horses cannot dream up a different villain - , bring in Boba Fett as some independent contractor. Some joint piracy, some handoffs, some trust among theives, Han and Fett have to work together on some type of Hutt project (please don't do Jabba). They're wary of each other and have various forms of a professional contempt. Nothing comes to blows, as the conflict is with some as yet un-canoned third threat, but they get to explore oppositions. Boba Fett has already, by virtue of AOTC, been given a dose of sympathy. So that horse has fled the stable. But they're doing a Boba Fett movie (unless they aren't), so don't blow all the intrigue. If they're going to make ROTJ pay for squandering Fett, it should be made to pay heavily. A third movie could just go with a completely new villain of no relation to Fett or Mandalorians or Hutts.

In *just one of these with the MF (or maybe his first ship?) Solo has to outrun something analogous to the fastest Imperial ship. It has to be a chase where we think he's about sunk. Multiple persuers / tractor beams, losing deflector shields, sparks everywhere, chunks of ship flying off ("hear me baby, hold together"), losing cabin pressure maybe, and then the iconic star streaks. Do this with year 2020 capabilities.

In *just one of these reveal more depth of Han's intimate knowledge of Imperial procedures. Not that he again goes out with the trash, not that he agains hides on the back of a conning tower, not that he again hitches a free ride, but some other exploit, some other inner workings. He *knows lots of tricks.

In *just one of these have him at some obvious edge, or further, of the galaxy. Maybe he sees something truly weird, but it's not inexplicable.

In *just one of these, have him sneaking around against such and such an adversay and he gets caught because of the inaction or loss of initiative.

In *just one of these, have him make reference to the proliferation of the Imperial navy. I.e., he has seen with his own eyes, (being retrospectively fifteen years older than Luke) a change in how the Empire is going about its business, and spreading its tendrils farther outside of the former Republic. An echo of Biggs' soliloquy.

An inversion of the word "buddy" between Han and Lando. Make it sting in ESB.

An origin for his blaster, which is as iconic as anything else Han. (I think it should come out of the cold dead hand of a worthy foe, and then Han slings it around a little bit, and frowns that it'll do, for now.)

I hope I have not grossly repeated any of the major excellent mentions listed above such as a Kessel Run or spice interdiction.

Yeah. Would love to see Kashyyyk rendered with modern technology and techniques, and with the new SW aesthetic that hews closer to the OT. Perhaps filmed on location, and significantly altered with CGI.

Han puts on a jacket. He doesn't like the fit of it so he gives it Chewie who then rips off the arms and turns it into a vest. "Ah! Much better!", Han says.

I also want to see him win the Falcon from Lando. That's arguably the second most important relationship in his life after Chewie.
