The Force Awakens will be released in 2015, and a new Star Wars film will be released each year thereafter. That means that 2014 (which is almost over!) will be the last year without a new Star Wars film--at least for the foreseeable future.

I remember seeing the first Star Wars film in 1977, and having to endure three years between each of the films, not to mention the 16 years between ROTJ and TPM.

Kids these days don't know how good they have it. :)

3 years between films. I don't know how people survived back then. A film a year certainly generates a lot of goodwill from me.

Hopefully they don't overdo it and keep bringing in fresh stories with the spin offs.

It was just normal. You were used to it.

My one concern is that you can have too much of a good thing. Will SW lose its special quality if we get it every year?

Star Wars fans will watch it no matter what because, you guessed it, its Star Wars!

It was just the way things went back in the day. We also waited some years for the ANH and ESB video releases. I think ESB VHS came out in 1984 - four years after the original release (though theatre re-releases helped with the waiting).

In the meantime, we had the toys and the Marvel comics to keep us going.

So excited as long as it's done with characters that belong in Star Wars.

This would be my concern as well. I would hope to be proven wrong.

As much as I love Star Wars, I can't see good quality being maintained with a new movie every year. This is what worries me about Disney owning Star Wars; that simply slapping the Star Wars Title on anything is all that matters. I hope I am wrong. :(

This is will be the last month without new SW content for the foreseeable future. The comics start next month. After that we will have a pretty steady supply of SW.

I don't think it's had any impact on Marvel. If anything, I think it's made that specific franchise way better.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited for the future of Star Wars. There's never going to be a big break where nothing's going on. When one movie comes out we will already be looking forward to another one. We'll keep getting information to keep us excited about one Star Wars thing or another. Every day will be a great day to hopefully not die.

I suspect each Star Wars movie will have a teaser for the next in front of it.

    Mmm yeah.

Exactly. Just like no one from the "general public" goes to see those silly Marvel movies anymore.
