I dunno, Star Wars literature really isn't my thing...except if the books take place before the trilogy.

 

That's pretty much where I'm starting from...before TPM...I watched that today...I think I found the most ominous words ever said in any of the movies...they were spoken by Yoda when he said "Your apprentice Skywalker will be." Wonder what would have happened if Yoda wouldn't have said that, and it wouldn't have been official...

Well Tamber, I still think that the words in TPM that affect the plot most are, "I move for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum's leadership." That was Palpatine's foot-in-the-door to becoming emperor.

No matter what you plan on starting with, you'll end up reading everything, trust me. I swore I'd never read anything that wasn't about the "main" characters until I fell in love with the X-Wing series. Just remember, the trick is finding storage space. I have two and a half shelves of EU.

also, i dare all of the "purists" and\ "Completeist newbies" here to read the thrawn trilogy. Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command. if you don't like those book, you're crazy.

 

It was a rhetorical question, I know the release date. I was just trying to make it come faster.
Thrawn Trilogy was how I started on the EU. I shall add to AT-ST's challenge. Try Allston's X-Wing novels! (Wraith Squadron, Iron Fist, Solo Command and most importantly, Starfighters of Adumar)They are quite possibly the only series which has never been bashed! And if you don't like TTT, most twisted Zahn-bashers like the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson. Jedi Search, Dark Apprentice and Champions of the Force.

Only when you have read all of these and still don't like the EU will you be permit to live your purist lives in peace!

 

yeah, i STILL have to read the X-wing books. i probably won't even start until after the NJO.

DarthBabe It only had 292 pages. I've read far longer books than that in a day.

 

DOY: i've never been able to find any copies. either in bookstores or my library.

 

Try asking your bookstore to order it in. That's really strange though. My Chapters usually has the whole series, and Coles has a handful. Don't bother looking second hand though. No one in their right mind would want to give them up. Try an interlibrary request too. You have to read these things!

 

actually, the closest chapters is a 4 hour driv from here. so i rarely go there. but yeah, i will read those books
