Thunderbirds. Stingray, Captain Scarlett, Supercar, Terrahawks, (and the live action) Space 1999.

Gerry, Your adventure story TV shows were staples for me as a kid. Loved them.

    Thanks for the memories.

    He did some great shows.

For a kid, some of his stuff was like watching a feature film, what with the chases and big explosions (real ones too not this fake CGI stuff we have now). Cool vehicles & well-conceived heroes were what many love about Anderson's products, the team on International Rescue & Spectrum were all people you liked to root for.
Great villains too, such as The Mysterons which were as scary as anything shows like Star Trek or Doctor Who have come up with.

    Great theme tunes too.

    RIP Gerry

My dad grew up watching Thunderbirds, and then I grew up watching Thunderbirds reruns with him. Of all the obscure famous personalities to pass away this year, this one actually gets me down. You will be missed, Gerry Anderson.

You missed out, then. It was considerably darker than the rest of the Andersons' series.

One of the greatest TV shows ever - spooky, mysterious... years ahead of its time. One of those shows that didn't treat the children that watched it like idiots:

"This is the voice of the Mysterons..."

I didn't care much for the animated version of Captain Scarlet, it wasn't as dark. Captain Black was a freaky-looking dude in the original show.

Plus it had the best theme song

I did have a soft spot for Stingray, although it wasn't as good as Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet. I used to own a big Stingray toy with action figures though, it was cool.

Mine isn't even the first in the thread.

Besides, he gave the world The Hood. The least I can do is post an unironic face_rose.

I wasn't a fan of the puppet shows but I liked Space: 1999 and I remember seeing some episodes of UFO. BBC News was saying he'd had Alzheimers for the last couple of years and it had gotten worse recently. R.I.P.

Thunderbirds TV series reboot in works, to be made in New Zealand with WETA Workshop...

"will be produced using a both CGI animation and live-action model sets" so... no puppets?

I am kind of frustrated that these shows aren't airing outside of the UK, Australia and New Zealand. I've seen bits and pieces of Captain Scarlet on Youtube and it looked fun. If NCS is any indication, I'd totally be down for Thunderbirds are Go!

There are pretty simple ways of obtaining these shows outside their usual territories.
