ST Thoughts on a Post Credits Scene for VII?

So it seems that in today's world a post credit sequences are a big thing and used to market future properties within franchises with Marvel doing a lot that leads to hype and speculation of future projects.

My question is would you be open if Abrams/Lucasfilm/Disney decided to do something similar at the end of VII? I am undecided. I don't think it would fit with the PT and OT as they did not have them but then from a marketing standpoint I could see them doing something to maybe build hype for the first spin off (related to the ST or stand alone) and I might be open to that.

I don't follow the Marvel movies closely, but aren't the after-credit scenes in the same time/storyline as the main movie? I mean, it would be weird to have a scene from the Boba Fett spin-off after Ep. VII since they will undoubtedly take place in very different eras. And I don't think you'd really even need to tease a scene from Ep. VIII as everyone already knows that movie is coming and it won't really need to be hyped more than it already will be.

 

Surprised we haven't had a Vader noooo meme yet. As I said I don't think it would fit I. With the previous movies but it just seems to be the thing to do to movies these days.

 

I hope not. There is a formula to Star Wars films that I hope they stick to as much as they can. Post credits scenes are a flavor of the month type of trick that I hope they avoid.

Post-credits scenes are fairly common in Disney/Pixar animated films these days - but I'm not sure if they make sense for an ongoing series like Star Wars. They're more "stingers" for standalone movies.

 

I understand why these scenes are popular with the Marvel films and other recent movies, but Disney has given every indication that Star Wars will still be Star Wars and that they're respecting the brand and the traditions that go with it. I don't think they're going to mess with the formula and try to throw something like an end-of-credits scene into the mix.

 

Yeah I can just see it now, Luke, Leia & Han et al sitting down in Dex's diner having some shawarma

 

While I know many people really don't want this (we discussed it a while ago, but that thread is archived so I've left this one), I wouldn't mind a teaser for the next spin off film. I love those little teasers and it also gives me an excuse to watch the credits. In movies that don't have post credit teasers you get the evil eye from people working in the theater if you want to watch the credits and I like to do so.

ANH had all the teaser you needed with Darth Vader regaining control of his TIE fighter and zooming off into space.

Films should be self contained I think.

It won't happen. I don't even know what they'd go with. At MOST we'll get a teaser trailer for Boba Fett.

 

Most likely not but IF they do it'll probably be like that Avengers teaser at the end of Captain America (just a quick montage of scenes from the next film)

 

I'd rather not have post credit scenes in Star Wars. It just wouldn't feel right. They work great for Marvel, but leave Star Wars how it is in this case please.

 

I hope there isn't one in the main episodes. I'd be ok with it in the spinoffs, though.
