I'm not sure what Pokemon Go is providing our corporate overlords that they don't already have at this point.

 

That's his point, though: Pokémon Go isn't the specific issue but what the security concerns with respect to Pokémon Go represent is symptomatic of a troubling trend (e.g. the various examples you just rattled off). Like, the dude just made a movie about Edward Snowden, he's well aware of the fact that this isn't a new or unique problem. The Pokémon Go angle got played up because the Guardian wants that sweet, sweet ad revenue.

 

First they came for the Valors, but I did not speak out because I was not a Valor.

Then they came for the Instincts, and I did not speak out because I was not an Instinct.

Then they came for Mystic, and there was no one left to speak for Mystic.

It's great for the people who love it. More power to them. Personally, I was too old for the Pokemon phenomenon and so I have no attachment to the franchise. Also, I have no interest in video games, so that's another thing. And really, now that it's not 3/4 of my entire Facebook feed, I kinda couldn't care less about it.

 

I was already loving the game, but now that it's a tool for trolling religious zealots it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Pokemon never caught on with me, because of a few factors, mainly the lack of Nintendo handhelds beyond the original Gameboy, which limits the options for the games I am in a position to play, and after Yu-Gi-Oh! and Skannerz, I am pretty confident I am a prime candidate to fall into the gotta catch 'em all trap.

 

Watch your data plan when playing Pokemon Go otherwise you might get a surprise bill like this Olympian did.

A similar thing is going on in Milwaukee, where people who live in an affluent neighborhood around a park are trying to remove PokeStops because they don't want people around.

And speaking of Pokemon GO, I can now play it, so I'm happy.

 

Halloween Pokemon GO event is live!

Twice the candies upon capture, twice upon transfer, twice upon hatching. Buddy Pokemon find candies four times faster. Certain Pokemon are more frequent, such as the Zubat, Drowzee, and Gastly families. I've also noticed an uptick in Cubone and Meowth families.

Event lasts until November, so if you haven't gotten a Gengar, you certainly will now!

 

I certainly hope so. Even another candy event would be nice. Might be able to evolve my Magikarp.
