I know, so I doubt that it would be included in this continuity. But who knows?

I am very interested to see if we learn more about what Thrawn and the Chiss were fighting in the Uknown regions?

Any idea if / when there will be a preview like with last year's book? I was hoping with Rebels out of the way there might be further information incoming.

Given events that took place in the Rebels finale, I'm now thinking that this book will probably take place between seasons 3 and 4 of the show.

I wonder if we'll get the canon version of how Rukh came into Thrawn's service. After all, Mist Encounter was basically canonized for the beginning of the first Thrawn novel.

Really? I always thought it was a big question where the book will take place...[face_thinking] I hope it won't be Zahn's last novel :vader:

I didn't like Thrawn. I thought it was boring. I'm really hoping Alliances kicks things up.

This potentially just became more significant in the wake of the TLJ novel.

    That’s my hope.

The ‘terrors in the Unknown Regions’ and ‘hermetic kingdoms’ tickle the curiosity.

It'd be a bit weird if it was, especially after the song and dance they made about bringing him back.

Maybe Zahn will go full on Sherlock Holmes (an inspiration for Thrawn) and have Ezra as the new Pellaeon/Watson as they solve mysteries on their way home.

Ezra, what Ezra? Because Rebels Ezra died liberating Lothal just like Ahsoka died on Malachor. And Thrawn is out there exploring the Unknown Reagions for the Emperor.

    Please, stop posting fanfictions.

They’ll probably just use Pellaeon now that he’s canon. I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up in this novel as well, being creeped out by Rukh like the good old days.

So when the Thrawn mini ends will be when this book is released? Cuz that means I can keep my Thrawn fix going on for a few more months after the mini ends.

Didn't buy the first Thrawn novel cuz I was waiting for the paperback but then they put out the miniseries anyway before that. But I think I'll splurge for the hardcover just cuz there's freakin' Vader right there on the cover! (Sometimes, I'm an easy sell)

Timing will roughly be right; last issue of Thrawn comes out in July I believe, and this novel releases in the end of july.

    Excerpt of the book:

    http://www.starwars.com/news/thrawn-alliances-excerpt

The book (according to the excerpt) takes place between seasons 3 and 4 of Rebels. The excerpt is super fun to read! Batuu is the name of the planet from the Star Wars land thing at Disneyland, correct?

Looks like we're definitely finding out how Anakin and Thrawn interacted during the Clone Wars. Interesting that it was apparently in stopping one of Palpatine's plots

It's interesting that, going by the original Thrawn novel he has some history with the Jedi during the Clone Wars and particularly Anakin, yet by Rebels he holds a contemptuous view of them saying they are 'predictable, choosing what they feel is morally correct over what is strategically sound.'

Perhaps this new novel will provide the origin of this viewpoint.

A few years would have passed, and being indoctrinated in the anti-Jedi view by the Empire would help with that. ;)
