Thrawn manged to stop being impossible and turned pretty cool. Not to mention the cast of Crisis gave me the fangsams. I wish for a novellea like that to be added to each anniversay edition of TTT.

I considered him pretty impossible at the ebginning of the novella. I was not sure I liked him.

 

GA-Jello, I know they've talked in the same room, but to see those two actually carry out a discussion without someone of higher authority nearby to keep them off each other was nice.

Evil, I know the perfect Vader for this, but how would you get Thrawn to use something other than mediums to force the deaths

I saw very clearly why many people think he's completely über. I was rolling my eyes at his behaviour.
In retrospect, he did have good reasons to act like that, but I was still rolling my eyes.

 

Ooooh, this is making me feel like chittering like a shocked kowankian-lizard monkey. I don't have the money to buy the anniversy edition - might not until the end of this year. Argh, I so don't like college expenses, especially the unforeseen triple number kinds.

Popping over here for a silly question- but is there an official position on the chiss vs human maturity thing? What would mid-late 20s for a chiss mean for a human? Do chiss generally live longer (esp considering how old Formbi must be by Dark Nest)?

And re: Pietersen- I like the continuity between THAT and Tatooine Ghost, when the Chimaera destroys one of its own TIEs to give added incentive for the others to get the Falcon. Generally speaking, I STRONGLY dislike that book, but I thought it was a nice touch there for Denning.

 

Right, but what are the future ramifications of that? If we take the Red Sky, Blue Flame formula of ten-year-old chiss getting shipped off to the military academy, I assume that would be the equivalent of normal/non-Fel-children humans at 16-18 or so... does the whole process even out somewhere in the 20s or 30s? Or are the stages of life accelerated for a chiss like their childhood is, compared to humans? Are the chiss elderly by the time they hit 40? 50? We've seen Formbi over a 60+ year period of literature, between Outbound Flight and Dark Nest, and I have to assume that he's already well-matured by the time he's a syndic in OF, though I don't recall if that is supported in any physical description offered in the book.

Finally read the novella. It was good. Very Sherlock Holmes. Not sure why you disliked Thrawn in it, he is his usual smart cool calm collected self.

No really he is! Zahn was very sneaky about that one.

Now I hope that some day there might be more stories about that conflict. Sounded like it was a long nasty affair. Lots of potential.

 

Not to mention there's got to be a story - even a short one - behind that "The One" business going on between Thrawn and Esva
