On Topic: Nat, I don't know if I've asked you this before, but which part of Melbourne will you be staying in? Just out of curiosity

 

For the first few months, I'll be living in Mentone with my cousin until I find a place of my own.

 

Nice- Mentone's near the beach, with Southland and the Direct Factory Outlets just round the corner

 

Mentone's a good area, I work there and live in the adjacent suburb. It's about a half hour into the city from there, so it's not too badly placed.

 

Well, that's good to know. I hope work transfers me to a store around or near Mentone. For someone who doesn't know the area, the closer the better.

 

Safeway/Woolies, IIRC? There's a store in the Mentone shops and a couple in the surrounding area, so you shouldn't have many problems.

 

I can name at least 4 off the top of my head that are close by But thats because I work at one of the stores in the area.

I've only lived in Melbourne for 5 years, and been out of the general 'inner city' suburbs about once, or when I'm on the Skybus, heading to the airport for a holiday in Tassie. Outer suburbs are scary...

 

I heartily suggest we get a house to share in Bundoora then. It'll be educational

 

We can form tribes and spear fish in the outer-suburbs wilderness...and vote each other off at the end of the week

 

Well, I told HR that I will be living in Mentone, but whether they give me that store or a surrounding one is another question. If they give me something in that area that is far away (trust me I live a 20min drive from the store I work at currently), I'll resign. I want to resign anyway, as I want a straight payroll job - less strees, less work, more money!

 

Working at Footscary station at 7AM - you can't beat it.

I just spent a few hours at a sports centre in Altona, where a massive fight broke out between two of the soccer teams there. Wasn't so much scary as it was hilarious.

 

I might Catch the train to uni at about 7.30am, Catch the train to work at 3.30pm, work until 11pm, catch the 11.33pm train home. Walk in the door at about 11.50pm

I recently drove through Geelong at night....geez what a westy town! I was scared...not as much as driving through Melton at night though!

 

I'm gonna pull out the old 'takes one to know one' phrase right there...

 

I once went out to Carlton. It was terrifying.
