...Go take a look here and have a read of the links.

Obviously this thread's going to be obviated in the next 24 hours, but what do people think of this?

Three more films, set in the time of the Old Republic?

Does anyone think George has learned his lessons this time?

    Short answer? No.

If he lets someone else write, produce and direct, we might end up with a decent series.

I'm a bit torn, on the one hand the fan in me wants more SW, on the other I don't want it if it's bad.

Aw, c'mon K_G ... what's the worst that can happen? George directly contravenes a few *more* EU books? :D :D :D

No, he won't be making any more films.

What the rumours started off is this line in this article:

And here's a little news: Lucas tells me he will make two more live-action films based in the "Star Wars" era.

Taken completely out of context it looks rather convincing. But when you look at the article, you'll realise he's talking about pilots for the TV show.

No, that's the old news. Yes, Steve Sansweet debunked it, but he doesn't actually say there'll be no cinematic movies. The Daily Telegraph (in the linked articles) seems to suggest possibly otherwise.

But everyone knows the Daily Telegraph is the scurge of newsprint media!

For once in my life, I hope to God he doesn't go through with it. TV movies perhaps, but not features. We don't need anymore. The TV show is a perfect replacement for any movie series, and opens it up to far more characters and situations.

I'm actually indifferent. It'll never happen, but I wouldn't mind if it did...

I'd love more films, though I'd still be happy if he directed them. I am probably in the minority in actually having enjoyed the prequels. Wont happen I bet ya, but still if the impossible happened I'd be all for it absolutely!

Why did all the strange SW things have to happen in Australia?

Oh well, the anticipation was good though. [face_whistling]

    I'm with Shadowfire on this.

If George does go ahead with another trilogy, it would be so much better if he had someone else direct it, someone else actually write the screenplays from his stories/ideas (as was done for the Classic trilogy) and maybe George could stick to Production.

It would also be nice if his kids didn't have anything at all to do with them, especially character names. I mean some of the names from the prequels were so ridiculous.

Having said that, it's highly unlikely that we'll ever see another SW trilogy. Although I do remember someone saying that back in the Eighties! :p

Agrred that GL shouldnt be as involved in it....we all love him, but the man is only human after all, and there a lot of people who can lovingly take the helm of future films :)
